Depends what part of sacramento you are in. lol I went to school here, still live here. Parts are nice, try and stay above 50, away from Arden-Arcade area. Roseville is a nice area, although not 'really' Sac.

great thing is just being a quick drive away from Tahoe and it's trails. Also close to central cal trails like Slick Rock, Deer Valley, and others. Hit up the Nor Cal BS Thread for Northern CA guys, we do meets every couple months.

Roseville and Folsom are both nice cities. Folsom is kinda in the hills. Both about a 20 minute drive from Sacramento. I live in Folsom and love it there.

I've lived in sac for most of my life,It has alot of bad ares like any large city.Im from Oregon and have lived in Washington.Nothing compares to those states down hear, but sac is a great place to live if you are in the right neighborhood.Im thinking you are probably on a tight budget going to uti.Just ask hear before you commit to a place to live.there are some areas you dont want to be in.Can i ask why UTI? i no i few guys that went there and they are working as a lube tech.seems like a waste of money. There are tons of community collages that offer the same thing for alot less money and you could get in as a lube tech any were with no exp. even here in sac there isnt a big demand for auto techs.

def dont look into del-paso or Arden Arcade.stay way away from the garden block,Lol, south sac all of it,south natomas. even parts of citrus heights and fair oaks suck. oak park bad but not as bad as it use to be.North sac also known as arden mall area has some bad areas but some good. there are bad areas every were there is low income housing aka cheap appts.lol. Folsom is high-end area they get fined for not having enough low income housing. Roseville is a close 2nd to Folsom. There is still lots of good areas all over sac.that are affordable for a student.

Folsom can be pricey but there's plenty of affordable places if you keep your eyes open. I pay $1/sqft for rent and live in a pretty nice area. A buddy of mine in Roseville pays about the same and lives a short walk from Old Town.

I'm going into the diesel program. Then getting into kenworth/ peterbilt. One of the head guys at Paccar is helping me out a little bit. I wanted to go Into the Toyota program because well why not love my truck! But the money is in diesel. UTI is good if you specialize into a certain company like Toyota, bmw, Ford ect. But I'm thinking going to sac because of how close it is to family and better than going to avondale AZ. I'm a small town guy getting into the big town stuff isn't my thing.
