Other neat features of the Audi include random electrical issues and the loss of 1 quart of oil per 1k miles.

My insurance company would clasify it as a 4wd station wagon.

Last I checked it has coil springs and is a SUV... IMHO you need leaf springs to be a truck.

Interesting... Up here in NJ they are 4WD Wagons or at least my two Ford Explorers are.

I'd bet each state is different, but I'd be sure to check and make sure they have it classified right. Sometimes insurance agents aren't the smartest of people.

when ram "separated" from dodge, they claim they only make trucks, and they have rear coils on the 1500 (or did for a year or two anyway) so that would make either u or them wrong

as long as were on the same page, i wasnt gonna discredit it from being a truck what with all the ridgelines and avalanch garbage rolling down the road, but i wont disagree with someone else who doesnt see a ram as a real truck

We have them at our work as fleet vehicles. I thought they would be the biggest POS's ever. I got stuck driving one down to a customer to deliver some glass a few hrs away and Ill be damned it had 112k on it and drove great. I was amazed.

    I still wouldn't buy one.

My wife purchased a 2012 Outback 2.5L new. We both love it.

Several have recommended the Four Runner, but understand that you'll pay almot $40,000 for a new one with the decent features.

You'll spend less than $30,000 for a new Outback.

The Outback does surprisingly well on ice and snow. The AWD is great. In the three years we've had it here in Minnesota, snow has never been an issue -- that includes heavy use in several 20-inch plus blizzards. We look forward to seeing how the new Michelin Defenders work this winter (the stock Continentals were surprisingly great).

The Outback has the CVT transmission. It's super smooth and operates flawlessly.

Contrary to one person's statement above, the Outback is extremely fuel efficient. For trips between the Twin Cities and Grand Marais, we average around 34 MPG. We average around 29 overall (city with stop and go rush hour traffic and highway). That great fuel efficiency is due in part to the CVT technology. You may want to research that, however, as some companies like Nissan have had issues with their CVT transmissions. Subarus CVTs have surpassed expectations according to a local technician at the dealership in Burnsville.

You may also be pleasantly surprised to know that the ground clearance of the Outback beats most SUVs and all SUVs in its class.

    I hope this helps.

That was brilliant on Chrysler corps part when you think about it, it allows them to get an EPA credit for building fuel efficient trucks, which means their govt fines are less for building gas guzzlers and diesels and other random but popular more polluting vehicles (Hellcat etc..)

Toyota would effectively have to convince the Govt & EPA that the Rav4 is a pickup. Then they could get an allowance to make bringing a diesel Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra to the US.

Why not opt for a quad cab Tacoma with a topper. Pretty versatile and still have 4wd/truck capabilities.

Plus the 4Runner has a better engine imo, and is just to me a better vehicle.

Our stock 14 Outback pleasantly surprised me when we took it on some old WV forest roads recently. Once the stock tires are done i plan to replace them with some all terrains.
