My fat dog did that too--lost a lot of weight as he got older. I figured that all of his fat kept him around longer because he could afford to lose more! :)

Newest is doing well--still follows me everywhere even when I just walk away for a second to grab something from another room! lol! Of course, he isn't perfect--he must be feeling more at home and relaxed because now he's let his chew fetish out. :( One pair of flip-flops, my favorite black patent leather pumps, a pair of socks, and a shirt that he pulled right off the hanger! Not his chew toy mind you, just my stuff. The only thing salvageable is the pumps--they are being re-heeled, and I'll only be able to were them with pants, but that's better than nothing. :D

LOL! That's actually probably true--he usually does it when I'm not home. I guess he has nothing better to do when I'm not here to follow around and lay next to. I mean, it's not like there are two other dogs and numerous toys to play with.....

Love what you're doing for these Collies. Every animal deserves a 2nd chance. Here's another pic of Sam. It looks like he's screaming "Oh why me?". My wife did this to him again for Easter.

Chubby follows me everywhere and when I'm not home he follows the bf around everywhere. My bf said I should have named him Shadow haha. He doesn't chew though. Glad to hear the pup is getting along and sorry he started chewing, hope you get it under control quickly!
More pics of the doggies to see how healthy they are looking ;).

    That is adorable :).

Sounds almost like what Annie would do.... only when I was in the shower, she'd go in the trash can and get some kind of plastic paper with food reminents on it and after cleaning it off, she'd leave it on the floor. I knew it was her because as soon as she saw me, she would just have a guilty look on her face and be wagging her tail (almost as if saying "I'm sorry"). When she hadn't been in the trash, she wouldn't raise her head or wag her tail.

LOL! And the "experts" say that dogs don't have emotions like humans do--I've always thought that "experts" were wrong from my own experiences too!
Oh, and I forgot to mention his other particularly endearing quality , besides eating shoes; he adores those lovely treats that the cats leave in the litter box. Now, this is something my Eddie did in life as well, and it was gross, but James has upped the ante on this particular disgusting habit--a few hours after ingesting the litterbox chocolate, he begins to spew the most vile silent-but-deadlies that I have ever smelled. He not only clears the room, he clears the entire floor of the house.

Did I mention that he follows me everywhere? All the time? :(

Never get in a fart contest with James.

Have you tried a covered litter box or one of the automatic ones? Kept mine out of it

Not yet, although I have built the Great Wall of China out of various bits and odds and ends of furniture to try to keep him out. Sometimes it even
seems to work. I'm looking in to the covered ones, but they make too much... um... stuff for the automatic kind I think, as much as I would love to have one.
