Flipped/Rolled my baby!!!

Ok so coming home the other night with some really wet roads and a damn alligator is in the middle of the road. I tried to stop and avoid it but I lost control and wet off the road onto the grass then into a ditch which caused my truck to roll and turn my the opposite direction but landed on her wheels . fired right up and drives straight. Unbelievable… I know!!! The speed was 55mph down a two lane road and I'm usually around 60mph bc any higher and i get shitty gas mileage. lol Only damage to my truck is to the top of my cab on the back and the passengers side rear door, passengers side bed quarter, and tail gate. My interior is pretty muddy from scooping up water,mud and grass but I'm lucky to be alive so I'm not complaining. I was buckled up and have minor scales and scratches with some bruising. This is an unbelievable story but i tell the truth.
My question is wtf am i going to do? My truck runs fine, drives fine and looks fine from the front but the damage to the roof of the cab makes me think the insurance company will total it out. I owe like 8,500 on her still and think she books at 13k ish. Plus I have like 10k in mods but I never added the additional insurance . shm let me know if any of you guys/girls have had similar situations please. Thanks from Joe

I'm right on the other side of the river from you. I've got a family friend that has owned a body shop for the past 40 years. PM me and we can get together and get you "real" answers to your questions.

 

if you DO go through insurance, better do it quick... they don't like funny business, and taking it home to think about for a week sounds like funny business, you know?

 

You might be able to get a check and still buy your truck back from the insurance company. Then you can get your stuff back that you put on it.

 

Should have hit the Gator.

 

A gator is like a solid log in the road and will either rip your wheels off or send your whole truck catapulting into the air like a ramp. Instink makes you swerve - agreed it does not always end well, but the other option might not be good either.
Depends on the size of the gator of course.

 

Did you at least find the gator and kill it to make a pair of boots or a purse out of it.

I would start sourcing stock parts ASAP!! swap everything out as quickly as possible and make your claim. its guranteed totaled 100% since the roof is crushed. Its a safety risk now since the structutal integrity is compromised. Start tearing your mods out
