9/11 hit close to home for me. i know several FDNY firefighters. i remember hearing about it in 2nd period history class. it was my senior year. that was the one and only time i simply got up in class and walked out. no one, including the teacher questioned me at all.

then i can remember on the 12th being furious. i was a part of our local SAR team and we we're loading up to head to NYC when my chief told me i wasnt going to be allowed to go being as though i was still in school. i took the rest of the week off from school and spent it covering all our calls at the FD coving for those who were gone.

i will always remember that day and i hope everyone takes a moment today to remember those innocent victims as well as all the FDNY, NYPD, and Port Authority members who gave the ultimate sacrifice while helping others.

    Nothing yet, brand new!
I remember it all very clearly. There were so many events that day which struck a nerve in every fiber of my being.
My cousin Michael was in the Pentagon for one when the plane struck.
My cousing Becky was in the American Express building in Manhattan when the first plane hit. Not being able to communicate with them was the worst. They are both alive and ok. The lack of information on their conditions was hard to bear for that time.

The armory in Lenexa mobilized to the degree that when I left work early to head home there was a M1A1 tank parked ON the street with the guardsmen on station. I didn't realize until later that the DEFCON level was raised that day.

WOW...8 yrs. I was at Hurlburt Field(Ft. Walton Beach), FL sitting atop an MH-53J helicopter replacing a part. The aircraft was in the hanger and the radio was on. I remembering hearing, "we interrupt this program.....". My heart stopped as everything in the area all off a sudden went silent, except the radio.
One week later I was in the middle east unloading aircraft in the dark so we would not be seen. That night/day was the longest 32hr. shift I have ever done. To my brothers and sisters on the war front, take care, god bless, and come home safe. Everyone else, thanks for your support.

I have been in the Marines for 3 years when this horrendous event unfolded. We had already been to 2 combat zones when this happened. My shop was in the Gym on base working out watchin the news when it all happened. I turned to one of my fellow Marines and said we will be leaving soon. And 3 months later we were on a plane to Afghanistan to kick off Enduring Freedom. 7 months later we got home and 3 months after that we were off again to Kuwait to kick off Iraqi Freedom. I have been currently in Iraq for the last 7 months and Im almost out of here to rejoin my family untill duty calls upon us again.

God Bless to those who have forfeit their lives to help those in peril.
Man hath no greater love than to lay down their life for another.

I remember seeing the events unfold in TV while I was brushing my teeth getting ready for work. I remember leaving work to go eat at my parents house for lunch. I got there and remember talking with my Mom and seeing additional coverage of the attacks. Next thing I knew I was overwhelmed with emotion I just started crying. At the time I couldn't understand how people could have such hatred for us. Why they would want to attack regular citizens just trying to make a living and support their families. To me, I felt that if you have a beef with this country you take it up with our military, not with the hard working citizens of this country. God bless to the fallen and god bless to those that serve.
