Can you put a locking rear setup from a off road on a sr5?

    I got a 2011 sr5 and love it just not the fact that I don't have locking diffs. Can I pull the diff systym off a 2nd gen off-road and put it on with out having a giant headache with instal?

    Considering the coin on Toyota parts, It may be far easier and far more cost effective to add an ARB RR 30(me thinks) locker. It also can be paired with a compressor that will work with a front locker and air tools down the road. Good luck

    It would be coming off one that's from a junk yard if that helps. Are they all more or less just plug and play or will it require a good bit of wiring

    It would be easier to swap the entire rear axle and the yard shouldn't charge much if any more for the entire assembly with harness.
    Sounds like you may have someone else doing the job, so look into an entire swap. Obviously, have the tech inspect the gears, etc. prior to any work or install. I suspect the job time would be close to the same as a diff rebuild. Wiring and installing a stock switch would be a snap.

    Just swap the rear axle, most pain in the ass part is taking the ebrake cable off the old axle and putting it on the new one. If you are comfortable with wiring it shouldn't be a problem.

    Lowes Slimline Tool box, OEM Bug shield.
    This is better for the Op than getting a TRD/OR, as he can bypass all of the stupid nannies, which I would assume just hook the oem rear actuator to 12V power and a toggle switch, and have locker anytime?
