Songs good, I haven't been the JV since forever, literally never been. You'd think with all the places etc I have gone that would be a place I frequent yet I have never been there.
I would like to lean on Tom to lead that one. A few of the other JV regulars are all gone and moved up to Montana....

    Speaking of Jon B.

He used to lead an IFS friendly run at the Tin Benders Jamboree ever year at the Hammers. He would always pick some crazy routes that were pretty fun. One year there were a few jeeps with us and one of the drivers got so frustrated at his newly built Rubicon that he left mid run. He literally said fuck you guys as he left. He was frustrated because our IFS rigs went through everything with no problems but his jeep kept getting hung up...on everything lmao. Wasn't the rig..it was the driver!! I have pics that I need to dig up of that run.

That sounds like a good time. Definitely driver it sounds. Even stock Rubi's do pretty good when running with IFS rigs.

It's just painful how much flex you can get with a Rubicon and $5-6k. I build them all the time at the shop, throwing one tire 30-35" up and keeping the others planted.

But then everytime I see a JK trying to plow through a desert wash I remember why I love my IFS :D

Yeah but I would give up hi speed for flex in the big stuff any day. That's why some day I will be doing an SAS.

After trying both, I've come to the realization that rock crawling really isn't my thing.

Somebody told me once that the difference is like chess and checkers. One game is very fast paced and quick thinking, the other is a very slow game that requires lots of planning and thinking 10 moves ahead. Best analogy I've heard yet.

I just don't like spending 8 hours to drive 3 miles. I'd rather see more of the scenery and landscape.

If you had a taco setup like mine you can do both equally as good as the other

I've heard Tom typically starts out slow with a nice rhythm, will hit it hard a few times here and there and then back off some but always likes to finish off with a good hard high speed pounding.

Definitely sounds like he has his truck set up nicely

    Great analogy.
My fast days are behind me though. Raced motocross for years and did a lot of desert stuff back in the day. Wide open 5th gear whoops sections with not much room for error. So going fast in a truck just seems boring. I much prefer to think of how to get past an obstacle than just go fast down dirt roads. But that's the beauty of off roading so many different types. something for everyone..
