Yup....this recall is listed for my truck. I have the TSB springs and they don't look all that bad - a little flat maybe.

I'll take a new set of springs :D I think I beat them to crap this summer.

I'm still waiting for the Frame Corrosion warranty thing to be listed. I got the information in the mail for it.....but still don't see it listed on the website yet.

WASHINGTON – Toyota on Monday said it was recalling about 690,000 Tacoma pickup trucks in the United States to fix a suspension system flaw that could result in vehicle fires.
The safety recall covers model years 2005-2011 Tacoma 4×4 and Tacoma PreRunner pickup trucks, the U.S. unit of Toyota Motor Corp. said.
The trucks’ rear suspension system contains springs that could fracture due to stress and corrosion, it warned.
If the broken spring moves out of position and contacts the fuel tank repeatedly, it could puncture the tank, causing a fuel leak that increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
Toyota, the world’s largest automaker, said it was not aware of any fires, crashes, injuries or fatalities associated with the condition.
A Toyota spokeswoman told AFP that the company also was recalling about 100,000 of the Tacoma trucks outside the U.S.
U.S.-traded shares in Toyota were down 0.6 percent at $117.95 in early-afternoon trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
It was the third safety recall issued by Toyota USA in September, bringing the total to 840,000 vehicles.

Big brother at toyota is watching this thread and saying to all their colleagues "I just found the solution on tacomaworld, we will just wrap there springs in bailing wire. Cheap and effective."

Made a different post about this but il make a short of one here.

I called toyota today told them I had replaced my broken Springs 2 months ago and now there is a recall will there be any reimbursement? Was told when the repair letter comes out there will be instructions on how to submit for reimbursement for repairs done before the recall

Reading, it looks like they're replacing the TSB springs also, in which case I'm glad I didn't take it on in, or it would have been two trips. In my city, Costco has installed pretty high "speed breaks" in their parking lot. I can get out of there in either my wife's Forester or my little "fun car" Miata without bottoming out, but forget it in the Tacoma. It bottoms out every time, no matter how slowly I drive...

This brings up a good point -- why aren't hundreds of thousands of HiLux trucks also being recalled? Does the problem not exist in the HiLux, or is it just that the US tends to file more lawsuits? Of course, thinking about it, diesel is not likely to ignite even if a tank is punctured.

Mine isn't on the list on the Canadian site but I'll keep my fingers crossed since I've had to replace 1 broken spring already. I'll be interested to see what happens for us that have AAL installed.

Toyota should really start building Tacoma's in Japan again to the same quality standards of the 1st Generation............We would be better off having better quality parts and shipping the whole damn truck by cargo ship....... and then they could save money on so many damn recalls/tsb's. :itllbuffout:
