drove the truck into work this morning.. man that roof bar screams at you at anything over 40mph! such a weird sound. lol gonna see if i can make up some of those whistle isolation things for between the fins here at work today.

 

Just aim it again and drive. Till it doesn't scream. Mine did that. You just have to find that spot

 

Dude, that bar looks bad ass on your truck!! I want to see the output in person once it's wired up.

 

might try that too.. I think Lyd is gonna go check with Rigid first tho

harnesses might be sent out by thrusday.. so hopefully friday/saturday delivery and get it hooked up temporarily to see it. then will be ordering all my custom switches, switch panel, and harness for all my other lighting i have sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.. all new lighting, all new wiring with new switch panel and laser etched switches with amber leds.. mmmmm..

Josh, slap up a pic of your light bar working once it's installed! Sorry to hear about the drilling of the rubber channel. It's a real bitch to drill through... Atleast it will be covered by the bracket and not visible...lol

and no worries... because like you said, the mounts cover it all. I also added some RTV to the roof around the holes, on the bottom side of the strip where the holes for the nylon spacers are, and the same on the top. will probably add some silicone around the area as well just in case. but i think i covered everything.

need to epoxy the drip moldings at the rear of the cab since they dont seem to stay down as well as they did prior to removal.

does your bar kinda "wiggle" around, more so from side to side? im wondering if these Relentless mounts arent sturdy enough. I notice when im driving the bar "wiggles and bounces" a little.

 

Well..it's def gonna wiggle a tad due to the huge face of the light bar and buffeting issues, but overall...it ain't going no where...lol The bar will make a lot of noise once you get around 35mph (humming/whistleing), so I would recommend you keep it covered so it doesn't drive you insane. Just get some of the canvas covered pads for roof racks i.e. kayaks/surfboards and remove the foam insides and wrap the canvas around the light bar face. NO NOISE!... Works like a charm and still looks good until you go off-road and wanna use them...

Here's a pic with the cover's. I picked up some velcro straps as well to keep it snug...

 

nice! yeah.. i was thinking of ideas for that. going to try and snag the Rigid noise isolator things for the fins.. if not, ill make some out of blocks of rubber. might also do a couple supports at a 45* from the rear bolt on the mounts, to the light bar to make it a bit more rigid.

 

got these cut.. gonna throw them in tonight.

 

Never heard of the noise isolator thing. I initially planned on having a local plastics company fab me an acrylic cover that would be formed to cover the face of the light with smooth edges, but they wanted like $1000??? I'll stick with the canvas cover mod...lol

Got some door sill protectors.. added both. Gonna need some more and possibly try different combinations.

i did that for my straight 50 in. bar and it worked perfectly...i too thought about adding some sort of tin plastic behind it before i resorted to the door sill protective stuff...plus was cheap lol

Does that stuff eliminate the wind noise???

 

Trying to get it to. Its essentially the same thing as the Rigid isolators. Just makes the fins a little more... well.. rigid.. and gets rid of the frequencies that cause the whistle/hum.
