None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Taking my 2006 Tacoma, 75K, 6spd in for a check up due to the recall. This for the rusty frame recall. I called my local dealer, in Framingham, MA. for a appt. it for this morning.
The service manager told me that all of the 06's they have dealt with all required new frames. Mine is very rusty. They will provide a rental car if this is the case.
    More later. Jeff

I brought my '07 into the Danvers, MA dealer yesterday. I got the call this morning...new frame is needed. I'll be driving their loaner Camry for the next 4-6 weeks.

Just got home, Framingham dealer was quite good. They got me rental from Enterprise, a 4x4 brand new F150, the only thing it doesn't have is a tow hitch..I can live with that as it is the end of fishing season almost.

Lets assume that my frame is not bad enough for replacement, they will clean it, apply the goop and do all of the recall notices. Should have it back in 3 days.

The reality is that if the frame is toast, as the service manager said every 2006 they have looked at has rusted thru. They said possibly 4 weeks plus once the frame gets here. I cannot beleive that they don't have some in stock considering the number of frames they have done. But thats what they said.
I didn't ask them about a buy back, which I might have gone for....as I would like a full four door instead of the access cab.
However I can live with it.
I have two neighbors who have had the frame resto, one was a 2004 and I looked at the work that was done it seemed perfect and the owner is mechanically minded and he said he had no problems.
The other guy had a Sequoia and they did the frame on that also and screwed a few things up, spilled some sort of cleaning fluid on his wheels and brake discs and they had to replace those items but otherwise its fine.

Will keep you posted and please keep me posted on how things went with your change overs. Thanks, jeff

Yep, just got the word, lots of holes, sent pic's to Toyota and when the approval comes they will order the frame.

You would think that with all these repairs, they would have toyota rep running around to the dealerships giving the OK to the replacements. jeff

IRA didn't say anything about needing to send pics & get approval but that doesn't mean they aren't going thru that process. I got the same 4-6 week estimate. I confirmed not a penny will come out of my pocket for the entire process including loaner car.

Yes, I confirmed the same and I really didn't have to ask as the Service guy said its all on us and the Toyota Calif Consumer hot line, verified it too.

Also while they are at it, they will install/repair all of the most recent recalls.

They installed new brake and gas lines on my neighbors 2004 Taco, too. So if anything looks like its rust related out it goes. You can bet with all that rust they will be snapping bolts like crazy..jeff

Its looking more and more like Im going to be getting a lot of things replaced on my truck. Frame is rotted to hell so new one of those, leaf springs have snapped twice and put some deep gouges in my gas tank so might be getting new ones of those. Seat belt tensioners are loose so should be getting new ones of those. Finally still need to get my gas pedal assembly replaced and new all weather floor mats so the pedal cant get stuck down. I think they are going to have my truck for a while. Jeff which dealer did you go to in Framingham, I might check them out.

Good to see your getting it done.

I thought Ira Toyota in Milford would be closer to you instead if the Framingham dealer.

    Ned,
Bernardi on Rt 9, right next to the MA Pike exit, just across from the Reservoir.
One of the reasons I went there is I have not been pleased with IRA in Milford,MA., (closest to me) and the Toyota Consumer Customer hot line in Calif, said loaner cars would be based on availablility, so I figured the larger dealer would be better and more selection. It turns out that the loaner is a truck rented by them from Enterprise in Framingham.
Let me know how things go and I will also keep in touch, when I find out anything. Jeff

    Stock, for now!
After stumbling into this thread I went to the Toyota site to see if my truck is covered. It's a 2006 but didn't show up as covered under the recall. Just the other day I was doing a coolant system flush and noticed a pretty significant spot of rust on the frame. It even looked like the frame was starting to bow at that spot. Has anyone dealt with getting their trucked repaired who's VIN didn't show up as covered?

jonelli3 is correct 2005-2008, so far, you can bet when they get the 08's done they will start in covering 2009 and beyond.

Sean, if you have just one or two rust spots , google rust remover , they make some terrific , easy to use rust removal product, that were originally used for older cars.
I would call the Toyota Customer Consumer line and talk to them...or at least they are put on notice and you usually receive a "incident number" or case # jeff

I got a call from Bernardi Toyota, the claim they filed for a new frame was approved and he said it would take about 4-6 weeks to get the frame, so I presume once they know its on the way they will start to disassemble my truck..
The service manager just said to keep the rental till my truck is ready. jeff
