    Gotcha

My frame looks a hell of a lot better than my LR UCA's , OME coils and Dakars , they are 100% covered in rust

Just got a call from my local dealer, they told me to bring it in to get inspected/sprayed.
Don't know if they just went through their list of customers with trucks in that year range and called us. They didn't say anything about it being a US truck.

I'm dropping it off tomorrow. We will see what happens.

    Shawn.

    That is encouraging, Shawn.
I met with my local dealer (in Ottawa) last week and my VIN number did not have the recall on it, in their database. So they could not help me. They however told me to call Toyota Canada at 1-888-TOYOTA8 and explain that I have a US truck but have been living in Ontario since 2010. They told me that Toyota Canada would open up a Case # for me and instruct the dealer to proceed with the inspection/repair as needed (they have seen this happen before). I have not called yet, but plan to this week as time permits.

This is exactly what I am going through. Currently I have a case open with Toyota Canada, I had to call back once already to have the case escalated and a "manager" called me back saying that she is sending an email to Toyota USA and will call me back with a response. That was over a week ago and I have not heard back yet. I'm quite disappointed with Toyota and doubting that they will do anything for me.

Interesting details. I can see this becoming easier for us once Toyota US has a recall campaign for frame rust, active as well. That way the budget is approved and all Toyota US has to do is transfer the $$ for the work to Toyota Canada. I believe the US campaign will happen over time (pure speculation).
Right now, for one-off approvals from Toyota US, our cases will get lost in the bureaucracy because the money for the work may not even been approved yet.
Keeping fingers crossed for the long run. In the meantime I am continuing with the Krown treatment this year as well.

Good News, I called Toyota Canada again this morning and they got the green light for me to go ahead and take my truck in to get accessed. I really didn't think Toyota was going to pull through but they did:)

    That is awesome! Good work.
I am going to call soon. Let us know what they find on your truck and the course of action Toyota takes :)

Called my dealer, they confirmed that they have been contacted by Customer Relations Manager from toyota Canada and I'm booked in. Unfortunately my local shop is small and not really equipped to do this type of stuff and are currently booking out into June 2015:(. That being said, maybe one more winter will get me a new frame as opposed to just corrosion spray? I crawled underneath to look and right now it looks pretty clean just surface rust, we don't really use salt on the roads here.

3 & 1/2 weeks and still no CRC kit here.

Still waiting for it to come in and get the truck done.

Sorry for the crappy cell pics, just got it back tonight. Kinda wish they had done the axle and suspension components; I had just installed an OME kit a few days before in hopes of everything getting coated.

The last pic looks like they just had it up on a hydraulic lift, as they obviously missed the contact points. Oh well. I have a bunch of cans of Formula 3000 at home.

Pretty thick, but not rigid (not as of today, anyway). If you push with your thumb, you can displace it a little. It's not sticky or tacky, which is nice, as it won't attract dust or dirt. I'll crawl around under it tomorrow and take a better look.

Thanks for the pics. Seems like they did a "quick" job :( Did you not have any corrosion holes in your frame, especially in the drivers side by the cat?? I think mine is too far gone in that area for the coating to do anything to extend its life.... Guess the inspection will tell.

Mine is scheduled for the crc on the 14th, what kind of holes warrant replacement? I found this after they passed my truck's frame:

I didn't have much corrosion at all. I asked the dealership if they've had to replace any frames, and they said no - mind you, I'm in the prairies and we don't seem to have the same rust issues as you guys in Ontario and further east. I had very minor surface corrosion in a few spots, but no worse than what you see on the axle. Definitely no holes or anything that would actually concern me. Worst bits were the nuts and bolts on the suspension components that I had to deal with while installing the OME stuff last week.

The dealership ended up lending me a 2014 Corolla because my appointment situation was a mess and they forget to get a car from Enterprise. I ended up signing for it even though my dad was right next to me. The process took two days, four coats of paint, some inner frame liner stuff and some plastic plugs to cover up factory frame holes from what I gather. Pictures of my frame after the job (I removed my front skid plate and hitch before dropping it off):
    Dropbox Album

They painted 2/3 cross members which really confuses me, and there are chunks of paint missing from where the paint clearly stuck to the hoist. Some areas seem done rather lazily in my opinion and if you have expensive suspension components, I would recommend telling them to be mindful near them. I was hoping they would be generous and paint a few other things underneath with lots of rust but it looks like the use it very sparingly. I guess free is free.

Getting hard in a few days is why it will start to crack and fall off in chunks in about 1 year.... My Corrosion Free man has seen this happen and has had to strip the Toyota junk off 3 trucks so far, and then apply Corrosion Free, otherwise the water will get behind that shit and really start to rust your frame out....(it's like the old Zeebart they had in 1974.... CRAP..!!

My frame passed the inspection, but I declined the offer to spray their crap on my truck....It will crack and start falling off, thus making things worse in the long run....
