I'm not saying people don't have a right be here. If you worked hard to create this wonderful place then I can understand why it'd be hard to leave. Plus it's the internet, do what you want.

I owned a modified Nissan Juke for a couple of years and participated heavily on Juke forums. Once I sold it though I just didn't see a need. I've never gone on a Juke forum and pointed out all of the vehicles flaws, and there's lots of them, just to get guys I used to call friends backs all out of joint. There's no point in going on a forum of Tacoma guys and trying to argue your GM is bitching, it's literally one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard unless you like conflict.

I'm glad you had good luck with GM's. My first truck was a Sierra and I loved it. That being said coming from a small town where everyone works in Oil/Agriculture I do get to see what works in the field and what doesn't. In my humble opinion I wouldn't buy a Duramax unless I was highway towing most of the time.

A lot of the mods and older guys have moved on to different vehicles and that's there choice. I just don't see why they feel the NEED to be on Tacoma world posting. Modding, reading, and putting in there two cents of Tacoma experience is one thing. Taking blasts at there former Tacoma brothers is a totally different thing. That is all. Just my opinion of course ;).

Can we get back on topic and talk about the Colorado. The wife wants one and I'm leaning towards a test drive for sure. She doesn't need any more truck than what the Colorado is.

Don't blame Sterdog. A non-toyota owner started this shit flinging session. And I'm sure those other non-toyota owners are not in here stirring up trouble.

I drove a Land Cruiser Prado in Costa Rica for a week. See my review here: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/toyota-trucks-suvs/320926-land-cruiser-prado-review.html It's basically a stripped-down GX460 with a 3.0L turbodiesel. The motor was a pain in the ass, requiring you to keep the revs up and turbo spooled to move with any speed, and there is no engine braking going downhill.

The head-to-head photo shows the Collie's bumper is about 2" lower than the Taco's even with the airdam removed, so expect the approach angle to be slightly worse. Not a big deal since both trucks need off-road bumpers for serious wheeling.

For what it's worth, the airdam appears to be easier to remove than the Taco's mudflaps.

Except the Fuso's performance when empty would be woefully inadequate compared to passenger cars i.e. even a Prius C will run circles around it.

Ranch Topper, Bull Bar.....Yes, I know everyone thinks they are crap, I like the look
I have been hanging around TW since February when we bought our first Toyota Tacoma.
Before that we owned more Ford and Chevrolet trucks than I can count.
Currently have 2 Silverados and a Ford work van in addition to the Tacoma.
In 8 months at TW, I've read about Frame rust, Drive shaft vibration, Motors pinging,
Motors failing at 4500 miles, A/C failing within the first week, headlights fogging over, weak tailgates......I can go on.....all in less than 100K miles.
I know you guys are loyal to your Tacomas and I'm sure years ago when the big three where building crap, Toyota was the best.
Toyota is just another manufacture with the same quality problems as the rest.
For those of you who have not driven a Chevrolet lately, go rent one for a weekend.
They are some well build high end vehicles.
We rented a 2015 Tahoe last weekend, it was very impressive.

As far as the tread topic goes, The GMC Canyon is a much better looking truck.
I loaded up my GM card with earnings, my sister is looking at a 4x4 Colorado/Canyon when they come out.
I'm looking forward to her experiences.

Personally, the full size & mid size truck prices have always been too close for the smaller to be an option.
Our Tacoma was a conscious decision to buy a smaller truck and it really is not for us.
When the time comes, we will probably be shopping full-size.
With that said, parking the Tacoma is a breeze.

same post as before - not rolling the dice until there's enough information - far too much $$$ to risk it being the typical small gm unreliable truck. Toyota hasn't been perfect of course, but still far outpaces Chevy.

yes, more silly, unfounded myths. if it wasn't for unions, you wouldn't have half the benefits you get, including vacation days, 40 hour weeks, etc.

and regarding the economies, you'll need to prove cause and effect. most the red states are the worst when it comes to economy - and where they've raised minimum wage those areas have flourished. cause and effect? don't know but they make great memes to the uneducated who don't understand that concept.

I seriously considered purchasing a Colorado. I drove a fresh Z71 crewcab last night.
The Colorado is officially off the list as an option.
#1 reason, the seats. I found that they are very rigid and have a "hard edge" that is a bit of an obstacle when exiting the vehicle.
#2 only available interior is the "Jet Black, Cloth/Leatherette seat trim" - NOTE: this is better than sandpaper or white shag.
#3 the lower air dam is very close to the ground - close enough that I foresee that it will have clearance issues in an urban environment and especially in an off-road setting.

Other than that, the truck drove nicely on the interstate and the fuel economy is better than a Tacoma.

If the interior were something that I would not use often, I would stop looking for the long bed tacoma and buy the Z71 however, I plan to use the interior each time I drive or ride in the truck.

I'm not here to bash unions but...........my family and some friends worked for GM during the hey days, the stories they told me were incredible. It's no wonder GM went bankrupt.

How about you all calm down? US manufacturing is in the shiter and will continue to be as long as the USA does not have a significant competitive advantage over Canada, Mexico, China, etc. Unions and the amount of money it costs to keep a well trained workforce happy are just one part of the equation. Taxation, access to markets, access to materials, .. I could keep listing things but right now all the laymen need to know is the USA is not a competitive place to build certain items and the short term outlook isn't good.

If you want to fight over the long term effects of unionization and the loss of the US competitive advantage setup another thread s'il vous plaît.

Now back to talking about the Colorado perhaps??

1 thought about the gm stuff.....drivers do not need wifi in the vehicle. Do I see a use for it? yes. Do I think the general populaion can handle another distraction while operating a vehicle? no.

But I am still not sold on the size of the colorado...still a little big for midsize.

Here's a novel idea. Act like adults.

Opinions are welcome however, leave the politics out of it as well as its another truck and its new. Let's see how it pans out before making assumptions
