Ok. OP, I'm an attorney and you can PM me and I will try to help you that way. But for now, due to what I'm reading from you, I am going to keep it to PMs. As an attorney, I most certainly have the same questions many of the helpful guys on this thread have asked. These are pivotal questions in determining how best to approach your situation.

If you PM me, be prepared to answer every question already asked here, along with many others. I'm not even looking to be paid and will do what I can for free. That said, please don't come at me the way you have on this thread. My help is not cheap and I'm offering it for free.

Sorry but the frame didnt get that bad in just 7 months. Should have paid more attention before buying it

But as others have said just keep bugging Toyota. Eventually they will do something about the 05-08s that rust

If Toyota will not help you I'd suggest we collect all the POS 2nd gen trucks in the tri state area for a meet. We can invite the media and end it at a Toyota dealership.

Even better would be to wait for a local dealership to have a car show and have everyone with bad frames sign up and display them with a few mirrors underneath. A little table set up out front with all the letters from the dealership and corporate showing how Toyota is screwing over it's customers and has been doing so for many years might help.

If all else fails always start flaming companies in public....they hate bad PR

We have a ton of them around here due to the winter deluge of salt and our proximity to the ocean.

+ as we all know the media loves a good "your going to die" story.

First that frame rust is ridiculous, my 1st gen that has been dragged over rocks for the past 8yrs in the rust belt doesn't even look that bad....

2nd length of ownership is a relevant question as it states directly in toyotas letter (at least on the 1st gens) the minimum length of time you had to have owned it and a purchased before date to qualify. I am sure the same rules would apply to the 2nd gen issues.

3rd you sound like a PITA and I hope Toyota bends you over the table on this by the way you tap dance around questions and treat people trying to give you advice.

4th when is Toyota going to learn not to subcontract this stuff out to American companies because they make crap!! The taco frames from Dana, the old school Toyota truck beds that were made by GM that are all rotting/rotted out....

This was only enacted so people would stop buying all the 1sgt gens they could from scrap yards and getting 1-1/2 times KBB value from Toyota. For a while there people were making a ton of money off Toyota and getting numerous trucks "bought back".

Yup, and im sure it will be carried over/factored in for any future frame recalls/buybacks. My frame recall letter has purchase dates on it.

Just spoke with Toyota cooperation and didnt get much of anywhere with them other than its getting passed on to for review. . I did ask if time of ownership was a factor and was told no its not as all recalls are granted to you if any exists the day u take ownership. .. But keep in mind this is not a recall but a limited service campaign that your vehicle does not apply due to vin # if and when the vin # are expanded and included your you will be notified. . Or if a recall would go into effect you will be notified also..

My argument was although my vin is not included in campaign my frame should not rot as fast as it is.. He agreed and apologized as usual but said nothing can be done at this time...Also would like to say that I did not see the tear in frame when I bought it surface rust but no tear.. Once again I paid fair Nada value for the vehicle I did not buy it for next to nothing and plan on getting a new frame .. I want it fixed weather it be repaired on my dime if reasonable or replaced or repaired by Toyota cooperation if its faulty do to design. .

    Yes, they have.

Consider yourself lucky. My buddy had his 05' in PA for the first 5-7 years then moved to Texas. His frame is horrible with rust and holes but because he now registers his truck in TX he is screwed.

Yes they have started. Did you ever read the thread I linked that is the official frame replacement thread? There is very good info in there for you to read. Also many other good related threads are linked within it.

I'm also in Pa PHILADELPHIA to be exact and I recently called toyota to find out why I had not received a notice for rust inspection. My vin is not in the group being looked at either and I also have rust issues althought not nearly as bad as breaker boy (sorry dude). My call to corperate went about the same, they were sorry but couldn't do anything. I' purchased some products prior to the announcement that toyota was going to do this service campaign, but I'd held off on treating my frame since I figured I'd be included and wanted toyota to see my rust now I don't know what to do because I didn't want to go into winter without treating my frame. I'm not great on the computer but I'll try to get some pictures. Thanks guys
