Got a nice chunk of overtime money last pay check, so I decided to pay off the taco. Title came in the mail yesterday. Feels good man.

Q for Texas folks, do I need to go to the DMV and have the lien removed from my title? or is it good to go as is?

The bank who carried the loan on your truck should send you a paid off letter .Or you could request one from them . Congrats , your now a free man lol

Even though I've only got the lowly 5-lug, it was my first new vehicle. Paid mine off a 2 months ago. It is a great feeling to actually own your belongings! That's a nice truck Plik! Good for you, man!!!

They will send you the title and it should have been signed by the lien holder - This is a clean official title - if you WANT to you can go down to the DMV and request a new title that does NOT ahve their signature on it but there is no reason to do so

It didn't really sink in till today. Looking forward to the extra 400 a month in my account.... Of course that won't last long with the wife getting a new ride in couple of months, le sigh

I never want to tell someone to NOT pay off something, but assuming your credit is good - loans are so cheap right now, paying off vehicles is not necessarily the best thing you can do with that money. My Tacoma is finaned for 1.65% for 75 months, and I could pay it off today but I can make far more on that money than 1.65%

congrats on paying it off, if you're debt free it feels great and certainly in weird financial times and the impending zombie apocolypse (ebola) freedom is nice!

Agreed, I didn't really have that much left though. I'd rather get this note out of the way before jumping in on another one.

The financial institution should sign the release of lien on the title itself and send it to you. But transfer it , its a PIA to get another copy if you lose the original.

BTW - My first post to the forum.
