i've decided i'm going to be buying premounted drift wheels/tires from now on. i have blisters on both thumbs from tring to get the molten-lava tires on the rims. damn heat guns. makes glue covered fingers actually sound pleasant.

    you have the flux right?

Haha yeah I go with pre mounted in most cases or run beadlocks because I hate gluing

yep, learned my lesson real quick last night. premounts for sure from now on.

mine's not the flux (yet). my go-to guy at this shop recomended i start with the brushed and upgrade the motor after i practice, since i've never driven an on-road before. i think he was right. i forsee a good 2-3 weeks of practice being needed before i think about brushless. i can drift it alright, but i'm absolutely terrible with the sticky tires on

Yeah I want a brushed setup, I got the brushless because it was a too good to pass up deal. I never really "learned" how to drift with it but I can do alright, would definitely be better if I practiced.

I got out of the hobby and wondering if anyone would be interested in my dnx408 collection.
I was a nitro freak and had all the bells on my ride. Down to a 4 wheel alignment rack. 2 rides all the parts, extra engines, radio, etc. I dont have a pic on this phone but can set out all of stuff for pic . Pm me if interested. I'm thinking of taking it to track shop and selling it.

Any Futaba 14SG users out there? If so, does your battery drain CRAZY fast when the transmitter isn't even powered on??

Twice now I've had the transmitter plugged in charging for over 12 hours and only a day or two later it's down from 7.4v to around 6.6-6.8v. Unreal. Both of mine are doing it at the exact same pace so I'm inclined to think it's just a characteristic of this transmitter/battery, but Jesus man...I don't want to have to charge these things for 12 hours before every flight.

Well...turns out my knowledge of nickel-based batteries has all but disappeared over the years of using only lithium-based batteries.

I forgot that one of the biggest downsides to nickel-based batteries is that they self-discharge (in any other context, I would have just thrown up in my mouth).

Just ordered two Turnigy 2100mAh LiFe batteries to replace the stock 1800mAh NiMH.

Picked up my first ever RC car today on a whim. Went to the hobby store with the guys from the shop and ended up spending WAY too much money there :D

Got a Traxxas Slash 4x4 with a clear Tundra body that I painted tonight. My plan is to make it look like my Taco with the graphics and whatnot. Thing is pretty fast right outta the box, although I don't have anything to compare it to. Going back tomorrow to get 2 lipo batteries and a better charger.

Why do I feel like I just made a huge mistake? :p

What price range is a good Helicopter or quadcopter, and is it better to go electric or gas?

A helicopter and a quad copter are two very different things. I would decide which one you want and go from there.

I have two quads and an octocopter and own a business that uses them for aerial photography. You won't find any multirotors that are gas powered and if you do, they were custom made or made overseas.

If you decide on a quadcopter, let me know - I have quite a bit of experience with multiple rotary-wing aircraft and can try and help answer any questions you have.
