Duratrac if u stay on pavement and dont need a robust tire.... I put 35000kms on my 285/80/17s this summer, lots of logging and forest service roads, all the northern canadian gravel hwys, no complaints. I did ruin one tire, got a piece of sharp metal cut into the tread through the steel belts. Wish they made a skinny 35 inch flavour.

I've read comparison threads and the Maxx always comes out on top! IMO looking at tread design alone the Maxx look superior to the duratracs.

Just got these on last week. My Cooper ST's (255/85/16) had 50k ODO miles on them and still had a little life. Hoping the ST Maxx last just as long.

That video really made me cheese :D
One of the reasons I decided to make this thread was after a long day cut short wheeling solo. While killing some time and hitting some local trails I went through a water passage and unsuspectingly hit an underwater log. Wasn't till about 30 mins later when I got out of the truck and went to the passenger side to move some debris that I saw wood shards wedged in the bead of the tire. In shock I went to pull it out and heard hissing, still in shock I bolted out of the woods and headed about 5 miles to my local tire shop to address the situation. Surprisingly the shop got it out without damage to the tire! I was stoked, and upon thinking what had happened I hold all the credit to the 10 ply Armor Tek3 side walls that the Cooper ST Maxx has. If you watch the video on the return pass you can see the truck be redirected from the underwater log.

Heres my new rims and ST Maxx's, got over 50K on my last set of ST Maxx's. They handle great in the snow, mud, rain and pretty much anything you can throw at them.

What did they do to your mpg. I was looking at 255/80/17 but i thought they were to heavy for me. Just as an fyi they are heavier than cooper published (per cooper).

I ended up buying goodyear authority (very similar to duratracs) 265 70 17 because walmart had them on sale for less than $150. I lost 2 mpg, which was more than i expected. 21.5 hwy to 19.5 hwy. My daily commute is 85 hwy miles round trip.
