Kershaw Cryo 2 blackwash. Got it on Amazon for $33. Not too bad of a deal. Is surprisingly sharp right out of the box.

Talking with protech about my new TR-3. The blade has developed hairline fractures after a week of ownership. Hell, I've only cut the tape off of a box with it so far.

Protech answered their phone, and after I described the issue they asked for pictures of the blade. This is what I sent them.

They stated that they had not had a blade fail in this manner before. I will let you know what happens next.

That's all I'm asking for. A simple exchange will be fine by me. Here's the part that has me a little worried though.

This is from Protech's warranty page.

The knife is legal in Texas, as far as I can tell, so I'm hoping this won't be an issue as I'm neither military or law enforcement.

I ordered the knife from BladeHQ, not directly from Protech.

Yeah, did that. BladeHQ won't accept it back for exchange due to the fact that I put the knife in my pocket.

I would call. I thought automatic knives were legal here in CA to own, but not to use or carry. I'll have to look later unless someone has that info handy.

Apparently they won't accept a return unless it's still brand new in the box. If you've used the knife they refer you to the manufacturer for warranty claims.

They should handle those returns for their customers. Must be nice. Does BHQ say that knife can only be sold to military or LE?

I agree. Guess I'll be buying from a different vendor in the future. Here's what BladeHQ says about their automatic knives.
