They used to make the Or in a long bed. Toyota decided there were too many configurations and cut it out.

 

I've sold several Tacoma Sport DC's with manual trans.

I have been selling Toyota's since 2002 and talk to the factory reps on a regular basis, at least two times a month.

I call BS. The 2nd gen Taco is essentially the same size as the 2003 Tundra, which offered the V8 as an option. Never heard any complaints about handling.
