May be getting the Pelfrey aluminum front earlier than I expected. Tyler has some spares with the current group buy so I may be able to skip a lot of the build time.

The only spares he has have the LED bar cutout though, but I don't think I will mind having that, especially if I want to add more lights or something down the road. My new double row VIP lightbar won't fit unfortunately. Tyler also has covers for the cutout too so I think it will be all right.

New bumper? Could you put your old lightbar in the bumper cutout

    And before you swap bumpers.....
    You know you need projectors.

Yep, new bumper, the DO has seen its day I think.

I already told a guy I would sell him the light bar with my OEM brakes, and the Blitzpro puts out about the same light as my fog lights so it's not even worth it to keep it. I may eventually get another 20'' but in a single row configuration that I can put there. But for now, it would stay like this with the Pelfrey cover:

But now I think I'm having a complication of thought…I am torn between doing the center hoop with braces like shown below or the three hoop…

Ive always liked the single hoop with braces myself. How much does the aluminum weigh?

I think I have to go with the three hoops for function's sake. I have to look at it like when I hit that tree at Big Dogs, I would've had to get new headlights and possibly had more damage if I didn't have the three hoops right now.

I do think the center with braces looks a little better, but I would rather keep on building my truck for functionality over form.

John, the aluminum weighs about 60# I believe. It's going to make a nice dent in my weight saving goals.

    • Current bumper & M8000-S = 175#
    • Aluminum bumper & M8000-S = 115#

    :woot:

Pelfrey aluminum front bumper with full hoops, fog light cutouts, and LED lightbar cutout ordered!!!

Since it is a "spare" from the current group buy, Tyler estimates remaining build time at only about 5 weeks, so I should have the bumper on in less than two months!

Nice. Kinda wish I went with 3 hoops instead of the single.

As I said above, I think the single looks better, but I have already been in one situation with just my first time wheeling where a 3 hoop saved me some coin, so I think I will ultimately be glad I went for function over form.

I can always cut them off later if I really don't like them  Not sure if I want to disgrace one of Tyler's artworks like that though...

Single is definitely better "looking" but gotta protect the hood, headlights, fenders etc.

Good looking truck man! Your Truck is definitely an inspiration for my truck build.

Too heavy, I've never been happy with how the headlight hoops meet the center hoop, and the mounting points suck. Pelfrey will be much lighter (65# vs 120#) and have (in my opinion) better looks as well as much better mounting points.

I will need to look when I pulled the bumper off if I actually damaged the bumper at Big Dogs...the bumper used to flex a little but now it flexes a significant amount.

Hope the mounting location isn't compromised :(

Nothing I can do about it now but I'll just have to wait and see.
