    anyone got any tips for buying a vehicle thats 3+ hrs away? do i go to the dmv with the owner or throw it on a trailer and bring it home and tag it once im home? never bought a vehicle that far away so im not sure how to handle it

    oh boy haha, id have to say it was the most fun that ive had in a long time, best weekend ever. makes me wish I was closer to either Pismo or Silver Lake to go play in the dunes.

    You can drive the car home as long as you have the title or proof of purchase. You have 30 days from date of purchase to transfer the title at the DMV. Its always better to have a car following you just for extra measure.

    You can drive it without a tag but I'm pretty sure you need insurance. Call your insurance company just to make sure but I know you can drive home without a tag

    When motor vehicles are sold, the seller must remove the license plate from the vehicle. The seller may then transfer this plate to a new or replacement vehicle.

    Tag office ,,Temp. tag good for 21 days. Ins on your truck now will cover something new for 2 weeks or so BUT check with your Ins Co. some want you to have a temp policy number. I know what call the tag office & your Ins co. BOOM they might know what will work out the best:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    eric x2. You cannot under any circumstances drive an un-registered vehicle on the roads of the state of Florida. Must have a tag bro (temp whatever)... IT IS CRIMINAL. trailer it or whatever. have somebody you hate drive it home but I would not drive it. IT may be "purchased" and signed over to you but it needs a tag bro. for them to sell you the truck they just need to sign the title over to you... thats IT once it's signed over to you it's your's to tag and insure.

    As long as he has title and bill of sale he is perfectly legal to drive. If you get pulled over just explain that you bought the car. You have 30 days from when you purchase the car to register it with the DMV.
