I had a Pioneer DEH-P7400 in my truck that I am no longer using.

    http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-P7400HD

It has 3 preouts because in my truck, I have two amps, sub woofers, bunch of other stuff..anyway. My friends car is just stock.

Would it be possible for them to still use this one even though they wont use all the preouts?

It's going to go into a 2005 mazda 3 if that makes a difference.

Should be fine, but you will obviously need a dash kit for the Mazda. If you want to make life easier, a wiring harness for the vehicle would be nice.

I have the wiring harness for the head unit and the dash kit. If I get the wiring harness for the mazda 3, would it just be plug and play or do I still have to crimp/solder wires?

I've never installed a HU before, but it cannot be that hard...all it is would be connecting the right wires up

You would crimp or solder the wiring harness that came with the unit into the specific mazda 3 wiring harness and then it would be plug and play, way easier and a must to have the wiring harness imo. Really easy to install
