Looking for a smoother ride

Hello all,

Right now I have a 3in adjustable coilover skyjacker lift in the front set at 3in. In the rear I'm running skyjacker shocks with a block. Truck sits level. I've had the lift for around 36k miles, and it's too rough for me at this point. It doesn't "ride like a truck" rather it bounces and shakes and is uncomfortable to ride in over any uneven surface, ESPECIALLY the rear. I'm looking to absorb the road surface better. Looking for all options, but I must still clear 285/65/18 terra graps. I do not specifically wheel, but am an outdoorsman so I'm regularly off road, whether trails, dirt roads, etc. I also tow a 3500lb boat quite regularly

Any suggestions?

As much as I'd like to go all out, as a college student I'm looking to keep the cost below 1k. If I have to do front, then rear at a later date that would be fine. But less than 1k per time.

If you want full 3" of lift, look into new UCAs; most common are Light Racing (SPC)

Also since you tow regularly, a new leaf pack might be a good upgrade. AALs start to sag and are a band-aid..

 

Never did the AAL. When I lifted it originally I had just gotten my sping squeak fixed by Toyota. Didn't want to mess with it anymore. Could that be the cause of the rough rear ride?

Also, forgot to mention but I already have the LR UCAs. Had them about 20k now.

 

I know the link has the AAL that's why I mentioned to leave it out I know when I have my AAL, if rode a lot rougher than my 6+2 Dakar leaf pack (that includes the

$81 D29XL Leaf Spring

D29XL leaf you can add to it).

I love the way it rides now.

 

What does this mean and what is the benefit of the +2?

 

Dakars come 5+2 (+2 is overload leafs) so I added the

$81 D29XL Leaf Spring

D29XL leaf to run 6+2.

Per Wheeler's:

"leafs made specifically for the CS047 leaf spring set that raises the spring height by 15mm and increases the spring rate for increased heavy load stability."

 

I've been looking into a new leaf pack. My stock ones no longer have an upward arc... Assuming they're probably worn out. Could you link the leaf kit you're running?

I'm also hesitant to change much up front, don't want to end up too low to clear the tires. Also hesitant to do the billies with a lot of users saying they're a bit rough. No problem with your front set up?

 

Love my setup. No issues except I got an AAL at first instead of the new leaf pack..mistake.

2 overload leafs? I am guessing this is purely for lift? And how does the OME pack do without the

D29XL? I won't be in the rear lift market for a while but in about 8 months I'll most likely be replacing suspension. My needs specifically are a nice smooth ride, and I haul about 3 times a year, nothing big either.

 

This lifts the rear 2.75". I installed the

$81 d29xl leaf spring

d29xl leaf before I ever put it on the truck.

 

Anyone know where I can get Rancho shocks that are compatible with my 3 inch lift?

 

5100 would probably be better than rancho

 

Heard a lot of people on here say that…any particular reason?

I really like the adjustability idea of the Ranchos. I can switch them up depending on if I'm towing, hauling, or just driving.
