    Just the basics
I have an 09 4X4 Access Cab with a vibration between 30-70mph. I recently had the carrier bearing and one u-joint replaced by my mechanic. The carrier bearing "clunk" is gone but I still have the vibration in the speed range mentioned. If I turn to the right the vibe goes away but not straight and/or turning left.

Tomorrow I will try to get my wheels balanced and see if that helps. This is very annoying! Almost as much as another thread about...
    VIBRATIONS!

Sounds more like a wheel bearing issue judging by your explanation . If the vibe goes away when you turn to the right , the left side wheel bearings might have pitting .
For the heck of it , try selecting 4x4 to see if the problem goes away

Well the wheel balancing didn't do the trick. So may try the bearing next week.

    This sucks.

Yeah, definitely this. I had the exact same symptoms on my 03 and replacing bearings fixed it.

Were the driveshaft sections removed... and put back in the u-joint yokes the opposite way?

Seems he already had a vibration and clunk issue before the U Joint / Carrier bearing replacement.

Wheel bearing is a good possibility. Why didn't you replace all of the U Joints as the others are suspect also.

I had the vibes before replacing the carrier bearing. My mechanic had a tough time getting the shaft free of the u-joint and one was damaged. He replaced it on his dime. Looks like wheel bearings will be in my future. I hope that solves this vibe problem.

My mechanic replaced both front wheel bearings and says the vibe is gone. Both had rust. I haven't done many water crossings and the ones I did do were shallow. If there is anything else to report I will do so after I get the truck back this evening.

Glad you solved your trouble! How many miles on your truck when you had the bearings replaced?

Do you realize that you have to actually GREASE wheel bearings that aren't sealed from the factory?

    Nice. Welcome to TW.

I had about 90k miles on them from what I remember. I've been all over the southwest. Hope I gain some points in your book.

The whole point of this post was to share information with others who might be in the same situation or had experienced the same thing in the past. If you bothered to search about vibes there are tons of posts. Carry on.
