Matt at MCM makes quality products. Without going too much into history, let's just say I'm very familiar with the design and would have no problem running his kit on my truck.

As for hydro bumps, the intent is to slow down the last few inches of travel. If you got the money, go for it. I'll just say that...it's by no means a necessity, especially for crawling. Even today, I'm still running EVS bumps up front (and also on my trailer). I only have hydro's in the rear.

If you're open to it, take a look at Daystar EVS foam bumps. It's more of a progressive bump rather than a traditional rubber bump which is...violent. I got mine from poly performance. These are the exact ones I have:

    http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kit...spx?t_c=1&t_s=101&t_pt=9030&t_pn=dayku09041bk

Essentially you just remove your factory bumps and re-tap the holes in the frame. Red loctite and you're done. I would suggest cycling the suspension though as the front and rear bumps don't contact the LCA at the same time (at least not on my TC kit). I grinded down a little bit of one of the bumps so they contacted the LCA at the same time.

As for ADS...do it. I opened up a set last month. The quality and machining is unreal. They have a very unique seal cap has a 3rd seal that runs on the shaft without creating shaft resistance. The piston is fappable. It's 7075 instead of 6061 aluminum. They offer shafts in both hard chromed or nitrosteel. Given your location...definitly get the hard chromed. It holds up to shitty salty environments better. And on that note...the shock bodies are cadmium plated and clear ceramic coated. Honestly I don't think there's another shock on the market that will withstand the elements better.

How does your SUA set up work over rocks and obstacles? So tempting.

Jason thanks again for all of the info. Your willingness to share your knowledge is what's good about tw. I may just go hydros since matt packaged it in a pretty good deal. If I don't then I'll go the poly route.
Yeah this truck is the shit! Makes crawling with a LT look awesome. makes me think I'm making the right decision about going LT

Works awesome. You do have to pick your lines a little better with the springs hanging under, but it's never got me stuck. I have currie bash plates so my u bolts have always been protected and beat the living piss out of the bash plates.

You will never get anywhere close to the same amount of up travel with SOA. It's all trade offs. My truck crawls awesome for what it is.

FOA. They don't stand up to ADS shocks but def a good budget shock for poor ppl like me :p. Id recommend ADS in a heart beat if you can afford it.

Monte mentioned them to me a while ago so Ive did some considerable research into them. Sorry, it didnt click when we were talking earlier.

ahh ok. I haven't really heard much on ADS, I guess since they aren't main stream. I went Icon because I wanted the CDC adjust-ability because of our varying terrain on the east coast..

I have a few months to figure out how I want to go...I'm assuming SUA rides better? or about the same

My original plan was hoops (no bed cage) shackle flip, hydros and I should be able to match front travel. (sconniehailer's rear set up basically)

Ride perception is subjective. That said it all boils down to valving valving valving. Travel numbers are just a way to measure peni.

With SOA you simply can't get the up travel you can with SUA. For go fast...there's no substitute for up travel.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
SUA=Less Clearance but more travel...But with SOA you can still get that 35" tire under your slider and have clearance. It's a no brainer IMO.

For rock crawling, you want down travel more though. I would suggest SOA unless you plan to move out west.

I'm building a versatile truck..I want it to be able to tackle any terrain/obstacle and be able to be tailored to my local environment if I transfer to another area. That being said, if I end up in Cali...well my truck is gonna be caged and all out desert truck probably not even street legal knowing me. :bananadead::facepalm:

Might just go SOA. Ahh more reading/debating to do.

Paul - you thought on that yet? What #'s you getting from your current rear set up

Haven't even thought of that yet. One thing at a time aaron. I'll start looking into it once I have the front figured out. Rear is similar to the setup that the 1st gen on 37s is running
