Just cut the fenders! Really not difficult at all. :D Glad to see you out there getting it with the DB  My front and rear fenders we're kinked a bit from full flex on 35s with the DB - BTW.

Ya, I just don't know if I want to cut or not when these tires work good. I guess it depends if Toyo is going to make the RT in my current size. Now that the weather is significantly dropping here I ramp up my wheeling. Two weekends in a row now and I've began setting up two more runs. One of which I'm extremely excited for up in Sedona, AZ through the red rocks.
My Scarlett is showing the signs of trail abuse more now then ever. My passenger side is so very scratched up now. I almost want to drive down those trails backwards so I can get the driver side to match hahah!!

If you are going to have your drive shaft off you should install a new carrier bearing and drill/tap your slip yolk to add a grease zerk to it as well.

Less ground clearance, just lay under your truck and pull a string from the back of the tranny to the axle to get an idea.

Any extra stress on components vs 2 piece? Lol like I'm not stressing it enough already..

No, having the two piece shaft with the slip joint has to relieve a ton of pressure from the input shaft / tranny IMO.

I replaced my carrier bearing about 14 months ago with a off brand I bought from a drive line shop and its vibrating again. This time I'm going with OEM parts and hopefully it lasts.

Yeah I was planning on a having a 1 piece built myself just to eliminate that carrier. All my Nissans had a one piece. But, I can see where you would lose the clearance.

Evenflow is yours drilled and tapped for a zirk fitting?

If you have a vibe again that quick you have a driveline problem IE: your angles are wrong. The new carrier just masked it for a while because it was new and more solid that is a very common issue.

    Really only two options :

    1. Invest time into playing with your angles. I remember you removed you CB drop and with 5" of lift that's just not possible unless your leaf pack was custom built with a seriously unusual radius or you are using a massive shim. It is important to not just look at the angles at rest but also at full compression etc to ensure you are not going to hurt anything.

    2. Buy a solid carrier bearing BUT you still need to work on your angles, a solid carrier is strong but does not cushion any vibes at all.

Yup, really easy to do if you have the drive shaft off. I had the same issue a ton of people have where the slip yolk would stick and then release after mild to hard braking, you get a thud almost like someone may have bumped into you. I found the zerk idea on TW as a suggested fix. Even without that prob it is a good idea because you turn it into a serviceable joint.

I went back in and added a smaller spacer and the vibs were nearly gone. They just now came back in the last 2000 miles

Bummer, it prob means your pinion angle is off enough that it is ragging out your carrier bearing prematurely. I basically went through the exact same thing and thought a new carrier solved it but it came back...started over with another carrier ( #3 ) It's actually not too hard to dial it in at home, I used a cheap digital angle finder from Harbor Freight, the PC spacers and a pile of washers and nothing made it right until I added a 4 degree shim ( but my leaf pack is 1" more than yours )There is a great thread here on TW about exactly how to measure everything and do the math with the angles etc. The thing that sucks is that no matter how perfect you get it the amount of axle roll you get under load such as acceleration or crawling uphill can wreak havoc on it...a center mounted Trac bar that keeps the 3rd from lunging upward such as the ATO one is a great idea. I have the guys at Dirt King making one for me currently but a weld on version.

Edit - Jon, here is the thread that got me started : http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ive-shaft-vibrations-solved-step-step-27.html

I ordered one at carquest yesterday. $72.00. I hope it's worth a shit.

i might be doing all this work for nothing because it's been driving smooth as hell last few days but after 100,000 miles on her and 60,000 of those on 33's and 35's I bet it's time.
