I'm shopping around for a lift kit and after searching I've decided that I'm either going to go Toytec or OME. The thing I want to know is, what would be the better option for the rear on the OME kit? The blocks are out, as I know they can be trouble. So the options left are the Toytec aal or the OME springs w/bushings. I'm looking for an even lift from front to rear too. So if one option would be better than the other for that, please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the responses and sorry, the truck is an 09. I'm not necessarily looking to do it on the cheap and I don't want to simply level the truck. I actually like it's stance as is, so I want to lift it equally from front to rear. The reason I was asking about this is that the spring/bushings option costs quite a bit extra. I'd be willing to spend the extra dough if it's worth it for the ride quality, equal lift or any other benefits. I'm just not sure what those benefits may be, if there are any at all. I was hoping someone may have a similar set up and be able to enlighten me.

I was under the impression that the billys only lift the front to "level" the truck. That is not what I'm looking for. What I'm trying to find out is about the rear options offered on the OME lift kit on the toytec website. The rear shocks/bushing are a $529 option and I want to know what benefits you'd get with them since that's a pretty steep price.

If you are talking about the OME Shocks and Dakar Springs..The shocks are GREAT, imho. They are a lower pressure, higher oil volume shock...so they heat up slower than the Billies. I found the ride comfortable with the 3 pack AAL from Wheelers Offroad.

The Dakar springs are supposed to be great- They maintain stock loading capacity and have the lift built into them and are fairly flexy. I don't have them....yet....but I wish I did!!

im pretty confused to what your saying/ looking for.
if you like the stance of your truck then dont change anything. you can get new shocks...i.e. OME, billy 5100, fox, king....
they will improve the ride but will retain factory stance. swaping out the leafs or doing the aal will lift the rear.

ok I had to re-read your posts and I got it figured out.
the same stance, just taller all around...
you could get either the AAL or new leafs for the rear and do some OME 885 springs in front or the billy 5100s set at 1.75"
that should get you some lift, better ride, and maintain the stance you want

I was in the same boat and decided to go with the OME Dakar full leaf pack. I wanted to have a decent spring that would provide lift, remain relatively soft enough to provide a nice ride, and not compromise towing capacity (I plan on using my truck to tow a boat).

I don't have any experience using the AAL option, but from what I've read it probably would have fit my needs. The thing that pushed me to the Dakar's was that my stock springs were flat and were worthless when towing, so I just decided that I would be better off just replacing them all together.

My truck is an 06 and I was not eligible to have my leaf springs fixed under the TSB. Since your truck is an 09 adding the AAL may be a good option.

If you looking to add lift for off roading and don't care about towing capacity, the All Pro leaf pack is another good (less expensive) option... but they are made for off roading... not towing.

I'm not sure if they're the Dakar springs or not. I saw those at the Wheelers Offroad website though. The springs I'm referring to are listed as Complete OME springs with bushings. Here's the link to Toytec's page with the set up I'm inquiring about: Thanks to everyone for responding and trying to help! I really appreciate it!

I'm pretty sure those are the Dakars...OME make the Dakar packs.

So now that that's settled, how does the OME kit with the Dakars compare to the Toytec Ultimate kit? I'm torn between the two. We won't be off roading very often, so the truck will be on the street for the most part. When we do head off road it will be in the mountains to camp or in the sand at the lake. No real hardcore stuff. And the load capacity isn't a big deal. I just want the front and rear to be lifted equally. I don't like when the rear looks lower or sags.

There are a few threads on this forum that discuss this topic (Toytec vs. OME). What it comes down to is whether or not you want an adjustable coilover or not. The Toytec kit has the ability to adjust the height of the shock, whereas the OME does not (other then using shims/spacers). The thing is, once you put your lift on... you shouldn't have a need to adjust the shock height.

I have not heard or seen any bad comments on either lift, so whatever one you go with... you should be happy.

Thanks man! I've actually searched and checked the differences. All I really found was what you said: only difference is adjustability. I was just wondering if there were any ride quality/lift height for the rear differences. Thanks again bro. You've been real helpful!

I can only speak about the OME rear setup. The Dakar springs say they give ~2.75" lift. I didn't want/need that much lift, so I decided to remove the third leaf which ended up giving me ~2" of lift. If I ever want to add more height I have the ability to put the third leaf back in.

I've seen a number of people remove the third leaf on the Dakar's to reduce ride height and to soften the ride. I spoke with ARB USA (the makers of OME) and they told me that it's perfectly fine to run the springs this way.

The Dakar springs and the OME N182 shocks work well when towing or carrying a load, which was a big thing for me. The only off road I do is to get to a camping spot, but they feel great when driving on road or off. I've been very happy.

I know it's not an easy decision... it's not like you can test drive the various options and make a choice. This is a great forum for information.
