help, confused about tire sizes

So the miles on my stock tires are finally getting up there and it's getting time to change them. The stock time is obviously the 265/65r17, does anyone know if a 305/70r17 will fit theses rims, I will be changing the ride height with some bilstein 5100s so I should have clearance. Just want to make sure the tire will fit the rim before I order them.

I had to trim a bit with 285s. How much lift are you looking for OP?

Need to think about a CMC, and new UCAs so you don't rub on the stock ones or the frame.

 

yeah 265/75R16's / 265/70R17's are about as big as you can go before you have rubbing issues.

305/70..... good freaking luck.

305 on a stock wheel? Not only will you need to lift, but you will need wheel spacers. I've got Toytec coilovers set close to 3" and Total Chaos uca's and i still rubbed a little with a 285 on aftermarket wheels.

 

305s will not fit will just 5100s. you would need to trim the fenders, Cut and reweld the steel cab mount, cut out the fender liner, fold the body pinch weld, add wheel spacer or get new upper control arms. You would even have to do most of this to fit 285s. I did it all to fit my 285s on a 3" lift.

 

You would also have to regear your truck with 305s too. This is pricey

 

I run 285/70/17's with no rub on 3" with aftermarket wheels...All I had to do was take off my mud flaps...

Same here. I had to do quite a bit to make 285's work. Maybe ArcherTaco means just when on pavement he has no rub. Hell mine still rubs in reverse at full lock even when im on pavement.

 

The lip on my driveway is basically a curb. I even rub turning in and out of my driveway. Ill get fiberglass fenders soon hopefully and I might just have jerry at bamf cut most of my cab mount off cuz I see 35s (315s) in my future.

i really think it depends on the rim, type of lift and type of tire. I did my quick little inner liner fix and no issues. Been off road crawling, thrown into corners at 60+, aggressive attacks at some climbs and I haven't rubbed since

I'm guesaing made you have issues cause of how bada** your truck looks with all your armor. That stuff is heavy, and just cause you have a 3inch lift doesn't mean you're getting 3 with all that added weight

 

Thanks. My icons are adjustible and I have measured. I have 3 inches of lift on the front with my current preload settings. Ive also flexed my rear tires into the frame ripping off a resi for my shocks

Whoa time out. No mine don't rub **on pavement** I think its inevitable that they rub off road. I've resigned myself to that until I have the $$$ to make some adjustments...
