1st Gen Taco's are cheaper (2nd picture), and the 2nd Gen's are the more expensive ones (first picture).

    Got it!

You are correct, and thank you.

Just a bunch of old crap
Anyone have any quick links to some reliable reviews on these? You need to talk me out of getting Total Chaos, other than telling me these will be $100 cheaper.

You can compare these side by side to the TC's and see that the only difference is the brand of uniball. There's a link in the first post that'll take you to T4R in which we discuss all of this. The materials are the same, same thickness tubing, both have zerks, both have poly bushings, and both have uniballs. You're basically paying more for a silver paint job on the TC's. Of course that's just my opinion, but side by side comparisons show the facts.

I'm stalking this thread and most likely will jump on board but All Pro products are amazing quality, I've bought almost every piece of exterior armor and suspension besides this from them. I love it. You'd never regret the stuff

I'll shoot you a reminder when things start winding down if you're still on the fences about it.

Please do. This is one of the few things left that I need, just haven't been able to budget it out, but this is a deal. Thanks

Here's a side by side of the two biggest features. AllPro uses FK uniballs, and Icon is unstated.

    Icon- $735
    • 1026 DOM
    • 1" Uni-Ball

    AllPro- $551.65
    • 4130 Chromoly Tubing
    • 1.25" FK Uniball for 05+, 1" Uniball 95-04

Here's some specs on the materials being used.
    1026 DOM
    • Tensile Strength- 85,000 PSI
    • Hardness- 80 HRB

    4130 Chromoly DOM
    • Tensile Strength- 97,200 PSI
    • Hardness- 92 HRB

I didn't think about that one, and I'm not a member there either. You could post something up if you want to to. I'd direct them to come here or T4R to sign up though.

    A. what makes the FK better?
    B. Icon has a uniball cover, this removes issues with dirt ETC. (does this even matter)

Now we're getting into my opinion on this. I've used FK heim joints for a number of years. I've used them my YJ that I sold a little over a year ago, and they were used on my 3 & 4 link set-up as well as my steering. FK has been know as one of the best rod end manufacturers for quite some time, and the uniballs are an extension of that quality. Their products are all over the Ultra4 and 4x4 community for a good reason.

The dust covers can be good or bad. No matter how good the seal is, something is still going to get around it. Taking care of a uniball is just like normal preventative maintenance you perform on your truck. I'd recommend using Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant on them. This is a lubricant that will actually help break down any dirt or contaminants in or on the uniball. The temp ratings far exceed colder temps then we see, and hotter temps then we see.

Heck i don't even know if i remember my login over there

Since discovering TW there was no need in any other forums :D

But I would like to know a good place to get "Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant" and dust covers. Lubricating them say every oil change just by removing the cover shouldn't be hard and should also be overkill, but thats me
