A friend of mine is wanting to do his 04. What do yall first genners do for the rear, blocks or different shackles? And the dsm said those rear shocks were for stock height but i assumed 0-1.5 like the 2nd gen is really what they meant

I don't know where I should post this but I thought here would be best :)
So I am being sold these used bilstein 5100 owner does not know how many miles on them or how much can he get for these. I just want the 5100 for my 4runner because I will be pairing them with some Eibachs :)... Are these worth it in your opinion or should I opt out wait for something else to come? Get some new ones?

Depends on how much $$$ we're talking, $100 for a used pair of 5100's with no apparent issues is reasonable, plus the 5100's are great with the Eibachs..

I emailed with Sonny at DSM; apparently the 5125 are a tad shorter than the 5100 when fully compressed. This is important because the 5100 might be too long when fully compressed for a stock Tacoma. This means if you don't extend your bump stops, the shock might possibly bottom before the bump stops hit, potentially damaging the shock or the shock mounts. The slightly shorter 5125 resolves this potential problem.

All the threads I have found for the 5100 Bilsteins are from 4 years ago. Are these still the right choice for me?
I have a 2004 Taco 4x4 with a 2.5 level lift, and rarely go off road (although my TX/MX commute has plenty of speed bumps through the boarder inspections).
I am looking for a smooth controlled ride. 2-years ago I replaced the factory parts with KYB, but they have already failed.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

so if u set the 5100 to the middle notch and use the eibach coils do u get about 2.5" on the first gens like u do on the 2nd gens? i guess im asking how much lift to the eibachs provide by themselves and is it recomended to set the 5100 that high using those coils? also does anyone have a link for shackle install? i assume u just jack up the frame support the axel undo shackle put new in and lower the truck back down.

General conservative consensus is do not use anyhthing but the lowest perch setting for non-stock coils with higher spring rates than stock for risk of failure. Some people do, but that is their choice.

Not sure on Eibach lift at various settings. This thread was primarily to help people find the correct part numbers for the basic 5100s for 1st gens.

Are you putting some on a first gen? 2nd gens are different, with more settings.

Ah, OK. Sometimes these 2nd genners just wander in here like drunk sailors, so I keep them honest.

Anyone know the actual travel or shock lenth of the rear 559/560? Are they 8 and 8.5? I think that's what they are for 5125 with the same last numbers. The compressed and extended length?

Sub. I just checked my rear shocks and it looks like I installed them on the correct sides by chance. I didn't know until recently that there are different lengths for different sides. I have the D559 on the driver side and D560 on passenger side

Anyone know if I use stock coils up front with 5100's set at the lowest setting, if there will be any lift or not? Trying to get 04 back to stock
