So I'm somewhat bored and wanted to post something stupid..:p

So, my 80gig ipod got stolen last weekend. I don't expect it to ever show up. So - I'm looking around to buy another one.

They don't make 80gig ipods anymore!!?? After looking around at the mall today, I saw 16gig Nano's and 120gig Classic but nothing inbetween? I probably have about 20 gigs of music. The 80gig was perfect with lots & lots of room to spare.

I found 120gig Classic's at Walmart for $245, at FYI for $249. The Apple store had 160gig for $249. I'm not necessarily interested in buying a used one. My first ipod was a used one and it was somewhat messed up so I turned around and sold it. So - I don't wanna go through that again. I don't necessarily want a re-furbished one either.

At this point, it's looking more economical to buy the 160gig for the same price as a 120gig. What the hell would I do with all that space?

What do you guys do with your ipods? What types of stuff do you put on them? Pictures? Movies? Videos? I could probably fit my entire CD collection & still have plenty of room. We never did grab the entire CD collection....assuming there wouldn't be enough room.

I have the same 80GB that you had stolen. I love it fits all of my music, a few movies & I also use it as a hard drive when needed. One thing if you go with the 160GB is you can order it from apple.com & get free shipping & free laser engraving as well.

Why didnt you choose the refurb? Just wondering, as I bought one a while back, and it was no different than new.

I used my Ipod mainly for music, but I had a few movies on it. It was an 80gb like yours. I've since moved on to the 16gb Iphone. It's alot less space which kinda sucks, but I use it for the same reasons with the added features of a phone and the apps. I did use my ipod as a hard drive as well sinec I was in school but I don't use it that much for that purpose anymore since I'm done.

I had a 30 Gb that just went up. I used it for my music and I always kept it in my truck for my music. I hate the radio, they play nothing but commercials.

Have you looked at the new iPod touches that apple JUST came out with? they have bigger sizes now. I love my iPod touch, even though I have email on my phone. The apps are very useful and there's an app for everything. It's also really slim for it's size and has a great screen!

And I keep videos, music, and I use my iPod as a backup for my photos whenever I travel. (i.e. in case I lose my camera, it gets damaged, or stolen)

    Thanks Gang!

The old ipod sat in my truck and I played it whenever I drove and that was it.

I actually have an older nano (4gig I think) that I use at the gym. Maybe its time to pass that along and use the new one at the gym also. ??

    I guess I could get a 120gig refurb for $199. Not bad....

Stupid question (and maybe I already know the answer).... in terms of TV shows, movies, videos & what-not - Can you get this type of content for free (legally)?? Or does it cost $$ or hacked into (so to speak)?

Oh, and please don't talk about the hacking stuff....it's not RIGHT to mention it here.

Ok, so I got a 120gig (new) from Amazon for $210. Not bad....

I guess I gotta find more ways to fill this thing up. Maybe this winter when I'm hunkering down inside a warm house....I'll start adding to my music collection.

    Keep the ideas coming!!

We have netflix, so I'm wondering if or how I can get movies on this thing from netflix.

    Any thoughts?

To my knowledge the only way to get video on an iPod is to buy it from iTunes. The only other way to do it is to rip the copyright code off of your DVDs and do it that way...

Janster I've got a 30 gig with my entire CD collection loaded on it (about 200 CD's). It's only 1/4 filled up. i'd never find a use for a 120 gig. I just leave in the car set on random, and I haven't heard everything yet. (I take it out when the wather goes below freezing and don't put back until spring). I change back and forth between talk radio, XM and the Ipod.

Here you guys are complaining that you have these big ole Ipods and no music to put on them. I have a 500gb external hard drive completely filled with music and all I have is the 8gb I-pod Nano. It is so hard to narrow 500gb of music down to 8gb because I never know what kind of mood I'm going to be in once I'm in the truck.

I have the 160gb iPod and it's almost completely full but I also download all of my CD's into my iTunes as lossless files which is almost CD quality onto my iPod. Files are bigger downloading as lossless.

that would never be allowed by itunes. dvds have encryption that itunes cannot get around. you need anydvd or dvdfabdecrypter

Same here...although I never actually put the entire music collection in it. Of all the CD's we have, I just randomly picked my favorite songs off the CD's because at the time...I only had a 4gig nano.

The problem is, you can't buy anything larger than 16gig in the nano and you can't get anything smaller than a 120gig in the Classic. The itouch has 32gig I believe they are boookoo expensive. Even the 120gig have been discontinued - you can't even get them from Apple.

I'll have bookooo room to spare - which I like. I'll probably go through my entire CD collection and grab everything this time around. Put some photos on it and learn how to get movies on there also. I love collecting music. And who knows, CD's will probably become ancient history. Never enough time to listen to it all, but atleast you have it when the mood strikes. :D

Anyone familiar with itunes 9? Just got my new ipod....and updated my itunes, etc.

Specifically the "Home Sharing" and "Genius"?

From what it appears, you can hook up (like a network) to other itunes libraries through the usage of itunes. You can click on other people's computers (music library) and pick whatever music you like. I would assume - because its through itunes...you're purchasing everything.

The Genius idea is kinda neat although I'm a bit worried about having my library hooked up to itunes...... kinda like *big brother* is watching you ...??

    Thoughts?
