2-3 lbs? I will prove minimal information here so as not to bring any other vendors into this, but a different skin and cap reinforcements specs are as follows:

    Steel: 0.075" thick, 24 lbs
    Aluminum: .100" thick, 13 lbs

So the 25% looks correct, but the weight savings are pretty well, nearly 50% weight reduction. 11 lbs isn't much, but I bet when you have bed rail caps and the tailgate, it adds up to be worth the extra money.

Oh I see, I also have this question. This makes a lot more sense now. Lol

    Huh?

I'll double check my software tomorrow and get a total weight in both materials.

Okay, I hope you are able to do aluminum construction. If not, then it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

I will gladly do aluminum. I already have cost from vendor for it. But it will be more expensive than steel.

I understand and will pay the extra materials cost given the product is proven and attractive. However do please let me know if you find anything out about the weight. I'd like to know the bottom line on steel vs aluminum.

Wouldn't the aluminum need to be a thicker gauge than the steel in the same application to provide the same strength ?

Yeah exactly , so maybe that's where the discrepency is coming from , pretty sure Relentless got his numbers right you poached

    What discrepancy?
I did not claim to have the numbers myself. I simply kept another vendors name out of it. If you want to talk about competitors in OP's thread, do it alone.

I was talking about the OP saying it would only be a couple pounds difference

OK , let's pretend we're not talking about the competition's products while we compare them to the OP's

    Well now that
    1. Relentless's numbers are posted
    2. OP has gone to check his numbers and will most likely come back offering aluminum (honest mistake)
    3. You have verified Relentless's numbers and
    4. no one disagreed with Relentless to begin with...

    What's the discrepancy?

#2 is what I was talking about and I'm not accusing anybody of anything , just saying maybe the thickness difference accounts for the OP's weight estimate being off
