Anybody tried using a screen protector on their touch screen? I have a couple scratches on mine and it drives me nuts, because I put them there myself with the vacuum one day

Was wondering if I couldn't just use a trimmed iPad Mini screen protector and still have all the functionality, or if it doesn't work well with our head units.

I married my tacoma likes this.

I just keep you out of my truck and my HU is scratch free.. :D

What the hell where you doing trying to vacuum you HU anyways? I've never once scratched an HU screen.

On the side note, screen protectors should work just fine. When you apply use a credit card or something. Same concept on how you install a sticker to help reduce bubbles.

I wasn't vacuuming the head unit, I just wasnt paying attention when I was holding the vacuum in my hand and propped myself on the dash with same hand while reaching under the seat with my left hand.

I wasn't sure the touch screen was responsive enough not to be affected by a protector, not all of them are.

Lol! Sorry I thought you were trying to clean the HU with a vacuum.

I'm not sure what type of touch screen it uses, but since Apple devices captures touch and heat the screen protectors should work for you.

You could put saran wrap on the screen and see if the touch is still working. If so a screen protector should work.

Last time I checked they sold Toyota 6.1 screen protectors on eBay. I went against it because the touchscreen sensitivity isn't that great as it is.

    Vacuum? Seriously?

Ok, you need 1/4" polycarbonate glass laminate. No less. The different layers provide ductility and strength. Adhere that laminate to your iPhone with a thermoset, perhaps an epoxy.

You should be good to go. Uhhhh until you scratch the top of the polycarbonate with your vacuum.

Uhhhh guess I don't have an answer after all.

I was being sarcastic. As in ... why would anyone do this? I guess my worthless post was a direct response to a silly problem.

Want a serious answer? Don't use a vacuum cleaner on a touch screen. There you go. Problem solved.

Didn't use a vacuum on a touch screen, which is why I asked if you're capable of reading. The vacuum was in my right hand, which I placed on the dash to prop myself up while I reached under the seat with my left hand, in doing so the tip of the vacuum cleaner rubbed against the touch screen and left a scratch.

Does that sound like I was trying to vacuum the touch screen? It's pretty clear, I repeated it for you. Let me know if you're still confused, or you can just GTFO. :jerkoff: :brianr:

My problem is I have scratches on my touch screen. My question is for how to prevent further scratches in the future by seeing if anybody has used a screen protector on the touch screen and had it still work properly. If that is silly to you, then you don't need to be posting in this thread. Your answer is as useless as your sarcasm.

Pretty much same answer. Are you going to put protection on everything in the truck that can be scratched? That would look silly. Instead of buying touch protection, be more careful.

Dont be whacking your nozzle on things without protection.
