In our code here we need a 10 mm ( 3/8") gap between the housewrap or building paper and the back of the siding that is drained to allow water that gets behind the siding to free drain

 

This is not a wet area so that is not an issue. I do have to sheet rock 70% of my basement ceiling now that I used TJI's. If I used dimentional lumber I just need to fire rate my garage under the living space.

This will happen in the states. We are just a few years behind Canada. BC along with the PNW is right on a fault line. Seattle should end up in the Pacific in the next ten years or so.

Yeah , the TJI's fail sooner than dimensional lumber in a fire

 

Here, I do not need hurricane straps on 16 center trusses. Should I put the 3 sections I put them on 24" ( for my skylights and chimney)?

 

I would , we have to use them on all trusses

 

The more the better. in the PNW hurricane ties are required on all trusses.

Once you get onto a system it integrates pretty easily

 

Will do (I have tried to stay on my inspectors good side anyway) plus it's cheap insurance. Another strange thing is most of my wood in my hose is stamped Douglas fur. I just thought it was odd, but it is dead straight(as of now)

 

Is it S-GRN or K-DRY ?

 

Says kiln dried and the dimention is off slightly to the regular pine. The Douglas fur is slightly smaller. I relized this when I was putting my interior walls up.

 

Awesome , I try to get KD Fir for my joists and studs for longer lengths

 

It's all of my 16' length stuff. Relized when I was top plating with it that it sits in a quarter inch overall. My dad said be use to make the verticals out of the pump jacks out of that stuff.

 

What size is it 5 1/2 " ? Is your other material not KD ?

My pre-cuts for my 9' ceilings are regular pine(interior) all my 2x6 for my exterior walls were kiln dried and for my fly rafters and facia.
