If you can find an M&P it would work out for ambidextrous shooters. the mag release and slide release can be accessed on both side.

springfield XD mag release are also ambidextrous, but the slide release are on the left side.

fns isn't easily available in california. Its not on our safe handgun roster list.

find someone that will let you shoot their guns, most gun guys I know like to help people pick out guns and take them shooting to figure out what they want.

I second the fns-9 or the fnx-9, they are sweet shooting guns.

Hopefully the range will have a Walther PPQ to try out, seems like a winner.

They all recoil differently and without getting into this caliber is better than that one...major strides have been made and modern ammo will do what it needs to do regardless of size

Just in Glocks, from easiest to hardest to control for me is as follows:

    19 (9mm)
    42 (380)
    20sf (10mm)
    22 (40)
    27 (40)

I had a Glock 22 years ago with a few aftermarket goodies, was pretty nice overall.

    lol

I'm a self admitted fan boy...but will never suggest a brand for a new purchaser

Ya'll already have the right idea...shoot as many as you can and figure out what YOU like

it may end up that you'll need to buy 2

I'll admit I'm a Glock fanboy. Glock 19 is the answer to most handgun problems. :)
I was resistant for a long time but eventually I saw the light.

I am a CZ fanboy, I would suggest a CZ85b. Ambi controls and is a great gun. The only problem is finding one.
