I started work on my cargo basket. I figured I'd start a thread on it because I couldn't find much good info on building a custom basket/rails. I'll be building my own rails to mount to the roof in order to increase the payload limit. I'll update this thread (and the one at TN) as I build. Let me know what yall think.

Steel. The round tube is EMT conduit, and the rectangular tube is 16ga steel.

Hey man! Yours ofcourse was my inspiration. I had to make some changes in my design. It was really difficult getting the light hoop how I wanted it in the original design, so I wound up making it look like a continuous bend. Bending conduit the way you want it takes some practice.

I went with the rectangular cross-braces so that I could mount stuff to it easier in the future.

The angle of the picture makes it look tighter than it is. It will be a very tight squeeze though. I think once the cross bars are mounted I'll have about 2 inches of clearance.

i would strongly suggest putting a piece of plexiglass or something similar over the lights to double as a fering. the wind noise off the lights was unbearable without it.

Here's a quick sketch of the crossbars I plan on building to mount the basket too. The crossbars will be mounted to the existing M6 holes in the roof. I'm gonna mount the basket in a way that it will be easily removeable. There will have to be some contours build into the crossbars that I don't have expressed on the drawing(for time sake) but that will be handled while building.

Small little update. Everything is done on the basket except cleaning up the welds and obviously paint. I think it's turning out awesome! Let me know what you guys think!
