Shipped my coilovers to a place in VA called independent4x to get rebuilt. I need to change oil and seals, getting new springs and heims and things. They quoted me at $895 for everything and that's is way more than I thought. I thought it would total me in the $500 range. What you guys think? Is there anybody on the forum that can rebuild them?

Way too high IMO? A rebuild kit is $50 and labor couldn't be more than $100 for the shocks? What shocks are they?

    New springs?

A typical rebuild wouldn't include new springs, I think.

IIRC, DSM charges around 200 bucks, and includes a 1 or 2 year warranty.

almost $900?? are you joking?? you could have just bought new ones for that price. that's outrageous IMO but I'm sure someone will chime in to disagree with me.

    Seals are $25 per shock.
Shock oil is $30/gallon. You would probably only need 1/2 gallon for 2.0's.

Soooooooo getting taken for a ride!

    I'll add more.
I just checked my old receipts and my last set of springs cost $60 each and spherical bearings were $15 each.

Yea in not letting them do it. They told me it was going to be a $90 service fee since they looked at them. They probably quoted me around $500 before I shipped them to them

I've never rebuilt SAW's, but almost all shocks are the same. I looked at SAW's website, and here's list price:

Seal Kit: $23-27 (depending if you have resi's or not)
    Oil: $49/gallon
    Spherical Bearings: $20
Springs: $135 (I assumed 14" long and 600lb spring rate)

Total in parts is $453 at list price.

That said...if you don't care about color, King springs are $65 and Eibach's (also available in red) are $66.50.

Seriously, call Micah at DSM. I bet you would be out the door for less than $600 including full rebuild and shipping.

Well shit. I knew they didn't sell them (and for good reason), but I thought they would still rebuild them.
I'd hook you up but there's A LOT of miles between us and I hate to get them and find something else wrong with them (bent/pitted shafts, wear bands, bad seal cap, etc).

Probably, but like I said, I've never opened up a set of SAWs before. So it's impossible to commit without seeing them. If you were anywhere closer I would do it for beer.
FWIW, the springs and bearings are easy. Anyone can do that. Just need snap ring pliers for the bearings.

Yep. Of course you would have to be local and entertain me in the garage while I work.

This may include anything from standing on your head to acquiring 3 midgets and singing quartette songs.

Hard to stand by your quality name when dealing with non-quality parts.

Sorry man, just too many unknowns for me to commit.
Personally I'd call back this company that quoted you and find out why they are charging you $500 on top of parts to rebuild two coilovers. Emulsion (non-resi) coilovers litterally are the easiest to rebuild (less than an hour...2 on the outside). Especially since they are not resi's or bypasses, there's less seals to replace and no IFP to worry about.
