This is what i haul without much trouble.

I can place a dirt bike, heavy generator, couple of wheelbarrows of firewood and a family of four in the truck + haul a 5,000 lb dry weight trailer + all our stuff in the trailer.

I mainly drive around the Alberta Rocky Mountain foothills and prairies and the truck pulls everything surprisingly well. There is no way i'd take this into the mountains, but i'm quite pleased at how the V6 hauls the heavy load.

Rear sag is over exagerated in the photos due to the way i'm parked, but without the trailer the box only sagged by 1/4" at the axle. I use a weight distribution hitch to reduce the sag otherwise i'm sure it would sag too much to drive safely.

 Too each his own but I'm sure you're right close to you maximum weights for both towing and the truck itself. I hope you don't pass a RCMP cruiser near a scale. Getting $1500 in tickets and having your rig impounded sucks.

Good lord! Isn't the GCWR only 11,000 lbs?

    Truck: 4200 lbs
Family of 4 (let's assume they are light): 400 lbs
    Dry Trailer: 5000 lbs
    Dirt bike: 300 lbs
40 gallons of water: 330 lbs
    20 gallons of gas: 120lbs

    11000-4200-400-5000-300-330-120 = 680 lbs

Propane tanks are 37lbs each, batteries are ~50lbs each
Hope your wheelbarrels of firewood, generator, and "all your stuff" is only 500 lbs. Hell my big generator is 190 lbs alone.

According to the door sticker the payload capacity of a DCLB Tacoma is just over 1000 lbs including the passengers. If he has an average family (himself + wife + 2 kids) which together weigh probably at least 500 lbs, he has only 500 lbs to work with between that bike, generator, and the hitch weight of that trailer. He's way over weight, I was just trying to say it nicely ;).

He has a SB, which I think is 1200 payload. But yeah....I totally agree with you.

    I didn't. LOL

Can't go off Toyota's site for the payload. Each vehicle is dependent on options. For example, my DCSB according to Toyota is 1280....if you look at the sticker inside the driver's side door, it's only 1080.

Here is my recent camp in Florida. I fished the flood tides under the 'blood moon' for tailing redfish near here. Towing my 17 Oliver Legacy Elite with the Taco is no trouble at all. The trailer weighs in at 3500-3800, depending on how I have it loaded. With my custom spring pack and stage 4 lift there is very little sag. No need for anti-sway or leveling devices with this rig.

At the very least you need to adjust your weight dist. hitch and add airbags or add-a-leafs. You are running a weight dist. hitch aren't you?

I'm impressed you've driven it down the highway and safely reached your destination. I'd be puckered the entire trip. You're a better driver than me.

Yes, i'm pushing the limits...... and very much aware of that. It's on my list of things that don't seem to get done to verify the fully loaded weight at a scale station….

Fortunately, when i'm this much loaded i'm only driving 35 minutes to my dirt biking destination, and don’t carry any water or much fuel as I’m camping close to a gas station. Beer, on the other hand……

Knowing that I’m pushing the limits, I’m careful and don’t push the truck too hard. Having said that, the truck does haul quite well which is a testament to the Tacoma’s ability which is the key statement I’m trying to make.

As much as I love the Taco, I bought the larger trailer earlier this year knowing I’ll be upgrading to a full size truck next year, so I’ll only have one camping season with the Taco.
