Backing me up? Did I miss something? I read about his truck issues and that sucks. He and I are not the only on we who find OPs stories to be entertaining.

Seriously man, you really don't expect someone to say something when you read his original post. It was not a thread about a review, it's was some insane story. Where is this bar you speak of, let's get a drink and I will talk shit. Congrats on the engagement!

You know, I don't need another truck in my household fleet right now, but my wife who currently drives a '13 Outback misses daily driving a truck. I told her it doesn't make sense seeing she commutes 80+ miles a day to her job. The Outback gets an honest 27-30 ish +\- how she drives.

That said I'm going to try and get her back into a truck in the next few years, so I will watch how these GM twins play out over the next couple years. The hard part will be convincing her as we had an '08 Silverado HD 3/4 with a 6.0 gasser that couldn't stay out of the shop. In under 20k miles the hydro boost gave up the ghost, rear main seal started leaking.

On top of this her parents have an '06 Colorado Crew Cab 4x4 that has also constantly been in and out of the shop. If the new version holds up to be a good truck, and they can keep the diesel with all the goodies under $40k, I may trade her Outback in and get that for her as our new family hauler.

I'm actually getting married in just over 2 weeks :D.

She has PCOS which is a condition that causes a whole bunch of strange side effects. Luckily she doesn't have most of them. She's 5'2" 125 lbs of hotness that I can't believe I found. The only symptom she does have in spades is the condition of her ovaries. Let's just say it was doubtful we were ever going to have kids. We decided to start trying about 6 months ago, we got engaged in November 2013, and we got really lucky and she's now 4 months preggers!

Anyways sorry about that side track but it's leading to why we need another truck. She has a Hyundai Sonata she drives to work (120 Km commute) that's excellent on gas but a disaster when a blizzard hits. Her plan is to go back to school to finish a legal admin program when she's on her maternity leave so we need a vehicle she can take to town with our future child in safety, especially when it snows and drifts like it always does here. We've narrowed it down to a 4Runner or a Canyon. She had never driven a truck before she met me and she, for many reasons, does not want a full size. We will likely wait till the middle of next year to buy but if she needs it we will buy earlier. The Canyon would be 7-8 K cheaper I figure if I can get some wiggle room out of the GM dealer so obviously that'd be the direction we'd like to go.

Sidetrack nothing. I'd rather read about that any day over the usual "which black wheels should I get" thread.

    Congrats man!

Congrats man, sounds like luck is on your side. Let's hope for a healthy baby! I have a 9 month old daughter and my wife is 6 months pregnant with our little man. We don't mess around, 1 year apart haha.

I hope the GM trucks aren't a POS. Some competition would be nice and force Toyota to redesign. I bought an 05 Tacoma when they first came out and it's sad to see 10 years later it's the same truck with a few extra gizmos and nearly 10k added to the price tag. I have no loyalty to Toyota and if something better suited for me comes out I will jump ship.

Yes you are right that the newest tacoma is just a few add ons from every year prior. Competition with the tacoma is good. If gm's trucks aint up to snuff then people are going to start going back to tacomas. Hopefully toyota will soon start their new design on the tacoma to make it better than gm's.

I test drove a lightning once. The salesman encouraged me to floor it to 100. What do they care, it's not their truck. So a salesman encouraging a young kid to punch it next to a competition doesn't seem out of the question. I bet it'd even help sell the truck to the young kid when it left the tacoma in the dust.

I dont think it will force toyota to redesign. I think toyota plans on waiting it out for awhile for bringing too many new trucks with the new f150 will just kill the market. Waiting it out a few more years and throwing down a newly redesigned tacoma will be the best route.

I bet a one on one with v6's they might tie in a race due to their weight differences and gearing. But dealers dont care at all. I test drove several tacomas and none of the salemans flinched when i floored it to 95 on the freeway.

I wonder how long it will be before the Colorado start having engine problems?

Yea, I really don't know which would win. I just assumed the newer truck would be faster, since most seem to complain about the tacoma's power. I don't really care for or need more speed considering I barely floor it anyway. Especially since I came from a 2.7.

Everyone has heard the rumors. Do you actually have info or just relaying what you think is true?

You'd be an idiot to try and race a Tacoma with a Colorado. Other than the obvious legal implications, you never know when you're going to pull up to a supercharged Taco that'll blow your GM car engined truck right out of the water.

I saw one today and it looked pretty sharp. But no, I won't be trading for a Colorado. It's too much of a gamble until they have time to be proven reliable.
