I like the idea and price, but I'll be the first to sign up for the recessed instead of the embossed (I personally like that look more). Anyone else?

Maybe if we get enough people he will offer that style too! :D

Not in my cross-hairs right now. That would require tooling that I do not have the time to execute.

Have this mesh installed two days ago. The cutting part was pretty simple, but the sanding to make them even on both sides, it was a pain, completed the job about two hours from start to finish ( excluding paint toyota logo). It didn't need to cut hood release shorten nor relocated the horns. I will post more detail pictures tomorrow but here's the finish product. Thank you HomerTaco

I actually would have preferred recessed letters too, but also really dig the grill as it is. I don't mean to stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but I do run a company that manufactures products and big part of that being taking flat sheets of brass and steel and progressively forming them into finished parts using dies and punch presses etc.

Anyhow I noticed that coincidentally all the letters you have embossed can be mirror imaged and the integrity of the letters remain. What I mean is if you were to flip your grill that currently reads an embossed "TOYOTA" you would see a recessed "ATOYOT" even though the spelling is incorrect each individual letter would be formed correctly and not look backwards.

So if you were to emboss ATOYOT instead and then flipped the mesh you would end up with a recessed TOYOTA. To be fair I haven't seen your jigs so maybe there is some reason this wouldn't work. Anyway in no way trying to tell you how to do your job lol.... I've always been really impressed with your work. Just thought I would throw that out there as sometimes it's the easiest solution that gets overlooked.

    You are 100% correct.
I would simply need to build another jig. Unfortunately building another one is not simple as I make everything by hand.
Although enough of you have expressed interest so I think I may give it a shot. :D
    Thank you!

I like the way it is now. Having it recessed wouldn't catch any light. i feel like it may not show at all. Plus, any lights mounted behind wouldn't be able to fit as close to the grill mesh.

Just curious as I have one of the first batches for the embossed grills (so must've been 0.032). Why did you make the switch to thicker? Were you getting any issues from our early ones?

I did it Saturday from about 11-5... but a good portion of that was letting paint dry from the plastic inner surround, and also the mesh, if you can see it, is color matched lettering. Subtle with blue on black but I like it. So I guess another decent chunk of time was taping around all the letters. I think if I were to just hack up the grill, sand, paint the surround, I could have had it done in a 2-3 hours.

Looks great, I thought of color matching the Toyota on the mesh to my MGM but, I think far to subtle.
    Nice Job.

Damn that looks sexy! Okay I'm a little biased since my truck looks very similar to yours haha. I was also considering colour matching the letters. Do you have a few more picks closer up on the grill? I imagine the blue lettering probably stands out a little more than no paint while still being somewhat subtle. Also curious how the grill has affected the output of the lights you have behind it? I am thinking about getting a light bar behind there but I'm really not sure if the grill will just take away the output that it throws? Do you just go to a Toyota dealer to get a can of colour matched paint?

That was prior to lights and a bath... which is honestly the best way to see the blue lettering, and the only picture I have prior to lights. I think had I not clearcoated the letters, it would be even more difficult to make out the blue, but since the mesh is powdercoated black, its flat, whereas with the letters, they're glossy (thanks to clear coat) which kinda makes it pop where the rest of the grill doesn't.

I cant attest to light output with or without the grill as ive never done aftermarket lights prior to this and didn't test them in the dark without the grill on. I was in the shop when I got them wired up and then threw the grill back on. They still put out a ton of light as well. I think you're going to lose some light regardless (obviously) but I will say the mesh holes are bigger than I imagined from the pictures. Part of the reason for the hellas behind the grill was because it was so open back there. And as for the mount, I fabricated that myself and then rattle canned it black once I had all the screws lock tited... spent 20 bucks at Ace on parts. no drilling whatsoever.

As for the paint, I have automotivetouchup.com paint, which is excellent. But in the past ive gone to an automotive paint shop and had them mix me up two cans of color matched cans of spray paint in about 10 minutes and had good results with that. (used them to colormatch my scratch guards on my level 8 wheels) Hope all that helps
