I see that Toyota now makes a Sirius Radio Tuner/Wire Kit for the 2009 and 2010 Tacoma's (Part #'s Toyota part # PT545-00080 AND PT545-35090) Has anyone purchased / installed this yet? I was at the dealers yesterday and I had them print me the install sheet on this and I see it has you using the antenna that comes with the kit. (not like the XM kit that just plugs into the factory antenna housing). I just want to see if anyone has used this kit? I'm just trying to figure out the best way to wire to my factory antenna this before I purchase this.

    Bump

I just called the Dealer about these
    Receiver/Tuner PT545-00080 $200
    Fit Kit PT545-35090 $100

I suspect the Fit Kit includes kick panel antenna adapter.
I was wondering if anyone has ordered these or have installation directions.

The dealer wants 2 hours to do it. ~$500 Total

Great question!!!! I was wondering the same thing?
I got a copy of the install print out from my dealer on how to install this. It shows using the antenna that comes with the kit.

Why would you want to use the kit antenna when there is a factory satellite antenna (works great) on the roof??

Perhaps their kit does not include the adapter cable for the factory antenna?

I don't want to use the antenna in the kit. Unlike the XM kit it does not come with the correct antenna cable to hook to the factory antenna.

What you need is a "shark fin adapter" cable. This connects in the driver side kick panel, to your satellite tuner.

Here is one web site that sells the adapter; http://www.ltmelectronics.com/sfa12m.html

Do we know for sure if the end of this cable will plug in the sirus receiver? looks like it will but i'm not sure.
It says fits receivers with SMB antenna connectors. Do we know if this receiver has this conections?

Yes! I have it myself, as stated in my original post/build.

    I know is seems too much for a cable at $60, but to me, it was worth it as the install is much cleaner. By the way, when I purchased the shark fin adapter, it was $70. Try a google search on this item;
    SFA12M

    Maybe cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks! To be able to use the factory roof antenna I would pay 60.00. Are you useing the PT545-00080 receiver? In your post it looks like you are using the universal one.

I had the kit installed by the dealer when I bought my 2009. It uses the shark fin ant that is on the cab roof. Mine is XM if that makes a difference :) Works great.

Curious, do you know where did the dealer mounted the tuner?

No idea where the tuner is. The dash and radio look the same as before the XM was installed.

My dealer told me that because they are the same company that I would get what is called XM with the best of Sirus...which includes, Stern, Playboy and NFL. Are you guys wanted more Sirus than that? No way I am paying the dealer to install for satellite radio. You can hook up the Aux from an Ipod and get your whole collection there.

You will pay more for XM with the best of Sirus then you would with just xm or sirus.

OK, I had a huge fight with the dealer....this is how it works...
If you want XM, you can buy the 2 parts mentioned above and it will use the factory Sat. antenna + 1.5 - 2.5 hours of labor.

If you want Sirius, they do not offer the factory Sat antenna adapter, this does not mean there is no such thing. Some dealers have enough A/V experts to know which part they need and they can do it.

I bought the XM tuner and fit kit from Toyota and installed myself. Someone on this forum posted the Toyota directions for the install, and that has you mounting the tuner under the right rear seat (on a double cab), after removing the storage box liners.
