So Boyd posted about the Wharton clean up for October 26th which I will be attending.

Ant hatched the idea of turning Saturday into a camping day in wharton. Go out and do something Saturday... Kayak, explore, whatever, and camp sat night and head to the clean up sunday morning... Anyone else interested in that?

Itd be $3 to stay the night per person.

That's a really good idea Ant had. I think it would be fun if everyone got together all day and then camped out that night so we can be close by for the clean up.

so who knows about wood stoves?

my roommate's dad stopped by with a nice wood stove and offered it to me for $100. I've been keeping an eye out for one anyway so it really worked out great.

I just dont know where/how to install it. I have a 1400sqft ranch and the living room and dining room really do not have any extra space to install a wood stove so that pushes it to the basement. From what I've been reading, a basement isn't a great spot for a wood stove and i'll possibly have to cut grates in the floor to allow heat to flow up into the house.

I have a chimney that used to be the vent for my old oil furnace but the new gas furnace is direct vent through the wall into the back yard. So I'm thinking wow that works out great, just put the wood stove in the basement and pop a hole in the chimney, hook up the pipes that came with the wood stove, cement the pipe into the hole in the chimney, bam! done!

but its looking like I need to have the chimney liner inspected (if there even is a liner) or just install a new liner. one website has them for around $500 plus shipping.

I'll definitely have to stop and talk to the guys at my local fireplace/woodstove shop and see what they say. I'd really like to just hook it up to the existing chimney and be done real cheap.

    Anyone have any experience?

    Thanks in advance.

In other news... my g/f bought a 2011 subaru outback today! I'm finally done wrenching on her POS 96 jeep grand cherokee (changed the alternator in it tonight). that truck has been a huge pita for as long as she's owned it.

ouch! that sucks regardless what type of vehicle. I threw a rod straight through the engine housing on a truck at work one time... that was bad.

Josh, I know a thing or two about wood stoves, and most kinds of heat sources, and I do not recommend putting it in the basement, even with grate, and only maybe if you have forced air system and are willing to install a draft tube.

I would definitely have a near perfect liner if using wood, due to the opportunity to form soot deposits. I have seen the results of a few chimney fires, and it is just not worth it.

PM me and we can get into the details on your stove.

Congrats on the Suby. I have a pair of legacys, 99 and 09. Oldest daughter (29ish) has a pair of imprezas, 97 and 07. Very much like Toyotas, spare parts are pricey, and you often have to buy assemblies for mechanical repairs or harness sections when replacing sensors, but you should be good for the first decade. Does it have the CVT?
