Was at another car show tonight. Some dude showed up in a Chevy that was brodozer lifted. He was bragging that he lifted it, and I quote, "as many inches as my dick is long". I couldn't control my mouth and said by that logic he should have lowered it.

Boost is relative. Which was bens point. Psi is a pressure...which has nothing to do with power being generated.

18psi out if a 30mm turbo would be some but nothing compared to 18psi out of a 60mm inducer.

The 60mm moves more air then the 30mm at the same pressure thus generating more power.

Ben was stating that the subie bro saying "holy cow I can't believe it has so much boost!" Is a stupid thing to say as its a smaller turbo inducer then what his sti had most likely.

This is why guys put bigger turbo on their cars. Bigger fan means more air at lower pressure. Now..if you run a bigger fan at a bigger preassure then damn, your talking big power.

But I digress

Haha I'm one of those guys that knows nothing about boost. But now I can be judgmental when somebody brags about pushing 15 or more pounds of boost

Rode in a buddies evo one day that was pushing 21psi and all I know is that it pulled all the way to 90mph faster than any car I've been in. No idea what size or type of turbos he had whatsoever though

Had a ton of custom work in it though. The whole motor has been taken apart and rebuilt to withstand the boost. At least that's what he told me...

I'd bet it's around 45-55mm though. But..no idea...to the Google mobile!!

Egos are fast to begin with. I'd be suprised if it wasn't a bigger snail on it if it had lots of work on it..but who knows.

Either way. When someone says I'm running 12psi just go...cool story bro..how big a turbo?

 

Think the sti has a 46mm. Well the 2006-to whatever it is..

 

Or just ask hp/tq numbers since thats all that is relative. My old 240 was running around 18 psi out of a t28 which put the motor to 300 ponies. Till i blew the motor, rebuilt it then blew the turbo. Ha.

Turbos are awesome but i agree anyone who just straight up asks about psi is a dumbass. motors arent built to psi, they are built to power.
