If you do, I wouldn't tell anyone. JK, its your truck, do what you want. Personally, I wouldn't.

I wouldn't personally, again do what you want. However, don't try to resell it as a TRD and confuse someone that's ignorant to get the extra money out of it, that's just flat out wrong... UNLESS you upgrade everything to the TRD "X" package.

Dude, slap on a BMW roundel while you're at it. :D

No seriously, it shouldn't matter to anyone. Many people buy a base model truck, trick it out WAY BETTER than a stock TRD O/R with front and rear lockers, off road bumpers, full armor, suspension, wheels & tires, wench, etc... I wish they has a "special" sticker for trucks like that.

A dealer on the East Coast put TRD stickers on a regular cab and was trying to sell it as a TRD model.

You don't have to get TRD stickers per se. A lot of members here have the SR5 package and went to Sockmonkey (a member here who does stickers) and ordered an SR5 Off-Road sticker. Those are pretty cool. It looks just like the TRD ones, but say SR5 instead of TRD. There's also some pretty cool custom designs based on them.

I can understand where you are coming from, but I think you have a much better option available. Go to this section of the forum:

    Sockmonkey Decals - TacomaWorld

...and you will find a guy who does decals for many of the people on the forum. Maybe you can find something he has already designed that fits you and your truck. If not, the guy is great at coming up with ideas and helping others make their truck decals unique.

Well TRD stands for Toyota racing Development, if you spend the money on lifting your truck and doing other things then go for it, your just supporting something you like, I dont see any difference then putting any other sticker on your truck, just would take it off if you go to sell it, I mean there are enough cool guys out there that have MMA gernades and other stuff all over there vehicles and they dont fight

Whats the big deal? You wanna TRD make you a derned TRD...There aint no Truck Cops pulling guys over and checking VIN coding to assure proper badging is there???

I didnt like the stock TRD sport crap on my 09' as it looked tacky and out of sorts IMO...

So I bought one of the older style TRD decals and mounted it higher on the bedside to give the illusion of the truck sitting higher? I like the black and red older style decal better along with painting my emblems black and didnt see any reason not to change it! It looked saggety and too low to me where it was from the factory.

I think you should put a ford fx4 decal on it. Or one of those "please don't put my flag on your foreign car" decals. Just to stir the shit for awhile.
