    Soon...
    Just my .02
I've driven a 5.9L dodge dually hooked up to a gooseneck dump trailer with a Cat Skid-steer in it. Pulled nicely on the freeway going the same distance as a Ford F-250 with the 7.3. I used an 1/8 tank of fuel while the Ford used 1/4 tank. Granted the ford has more miles on it.
That's my .02, oh and the Ford belongs to my dad and the Dodge was a work truck.

Is there any reason this setup wouldn't work to act as both a suck down winch and for recovery? Simply add a snatch block to the axle and a place on the chassis to hook the winch line to. Just unhook to use for recovery.

It would mean it would suck your ass down every time you used it to recover. I dont like it.

^ agreed, the winch would suck the suspension down to bump before it started to TRY and pull you towards whatever the line is attached to.

Could you unclip the snatch block on the axle and run it thru some sort of large fairlead? (I have seen tubing used as a fairlead for synthetic winch line)

Why use a block, just mount the winch in a way the line has a clear shoot to the axle and for a pull. Or if a block is needed mount it on the frame/tubing so it won't pull the axle.

The block is supposed to be intended to simplify things so you wouldn't have to take anything apart and run them through fairleads. I figured it would suck the back end down, but didn't think it would be much of an issue.

This was my original plan. 2 hawse mounted at an angle, a hook welded to the axle, and a thimble end on the rope. Unhook for the axle and run it through the 2nd hawse.

Yeah, the damn thing is sitting 2" too high in the back and 6" too high in the front without the engine and all the other crap.

First pair look decent enough. The 60 is gonna be a ball joint though and kingpin is preferred since it's easier to set up high steer. If you're gonna be super serious about wheeling it though, I'd skip it and find a bare axle housing with knuckles for cheap, and build it from the ground up, cause that's what you'd end up having to do anyway.

Doesn't look high out back too me. Looks damn near perfect.

Of course you still are missing a lot of weight.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Looking good! It's making me want to pull my bed and toss on removable fenders.

Yeah, I put a cover over it. Now it looks like the damn thing has a perpetual tent pole. :anonymous:

Yeah you were right. I'll be surprised if I have to swap out the springs I have.

    Best of both worlds, IMO.:D
