Why?

 

Has to do with a couple of situations personally for me, one both me and my dad have access to the safes. I did not want to have to lock up my suppressors or SBR's in another safe. Just so he has no access to them to be technically legal.

Second I am young I don't know where I will be in the coming years or if I will live in a friendly county. Currently I live in boulder and are sheriff is ok signing for them, but being in boulder it could change. Main thing for me was not having to deal with the sign off all together and being able to put down multiple trustees like my father or other people later down the road if I get married and have kids. But that's a while from now.

The NFA was enacted in 1934 & in nearly a century there hasn't been one case brought against a family member for having access to NFA items. In terms of statistics there's not even enough data to say it's even possible.

Other than that your CLEO signs off so I still don't see a reason to jump through the hoops. That's fine if you want to but it's not something I would suggest others do. Just like the guy in the other thread bragging about having CCW insurance from two companies... that's great if you see the value but for most it's wasteful. I'm not a fan of attorneys finding new ways to convince us they need our money. This shit is complex enough w/o voluntarily adding more restrictions, fees & steps.
