Most would say the 18"-22" size. Rest depends on what other modifications you've done to your set up...

But Generally larger = less volume & vise versa...

I have a Borla cat back system exhaust with a 2 1/2" opening......made it a little bigger for it to breathe:) I love the sound.

I had a flowmaster (deeper tone) on my '99 Taco 3.4 V6. Then I got the Borla and never looked back. I have a Borla cat back on my '03 Cobra. Then again I do have a bassani X-pipe with that ( another story altogether). Get the one that you like best. I had the same dillema as you, so I just got a TRD cat back. Works great. That's my .02

I just had the muffler shop cut out the stock muffler and weld in a Magnaflow 40 series and put a tip on mine. Sounds pretty good to me. $200 bucks.:D

Pffttt, I know you. Don't trust a word this guy says. :p

I have a Borla and it's not ricey in the least. It's badass. To me the Magnaflow sounds too much like whomever made it was trying to hard. The Borla sounds refined like it's OEM.

I absolutley love the Borla although i dont have the kit they sell. My truck came with the Borla set up right off the lot but i modified it. I had another buddy that wanted to get rid of his Borla system and switch to Magnaflow (we had identical stock setups) and i bought his muffler and made my system a true dual Borla system. Sorry for the story but i have to defend Borla they make some nice systems.

Now I have something to add to this thread as I just purchased (gotta love Craigslist) and installed a catback Borla. The ONLY thing is someone had cut out a section and installed a glasspack. I was going to cut it out but decided to just install and see what it sounded like. Overall, it is rather quiet compared to a FlowMaster but, I must admit, it does sound a tad "ricey". I don't know if it is the glasspack or not. It is what it is. I like it but am probably going to remove the glass pack and reweld a new piece back in...PITA.

Regardless of sound, there is a noticeable pickup in power (not a whole lot but I can sense the slightest changes in my girl!). Also, I have increased gas mileage by about 2mpg. All in all...Daddy's happy. Good luck on your install!

My stock muffler is starting to really look like isht. I am considering just throwing a Flowmaster up there because they fit nice. I had a Borla catback on my '02 WRX and it sounded good but a little loud for my liking. The part that really killed it for me was the droning I got from it going down the highway. That drove me nuts. The Prodive made it a stunner.

Does the Borla cause a constant noise or drone going down the road? I am really not looking for loud. Just a better sound.

No experience with Borla, but I recently swapped out my Flowmaster for a Magnaflow. Very pleased with the difference. The Flowmaster had alot of in cab drone whenever I was driving, and it also felt like I lost a bit of low end torque. The magnaflow has some in cab drone, but it is much less significant when compared to the Flowmaster. I also feel like I gained some of the low end back. No real numbers to prove it, just seems to have more get up and go now than it did before.

edit: oh ya, when you get on it, the manaflow also has an aggressive tone.

Take this word: BOOD'-in. Repeat it loudly four or five times. That's ricey. Torquey up and down really quickly. Sharp. Higher pitched. Like a hopped up Honda with one of those freakin' bumblebee cans hangin' out the arse.

I just put the Magnaflo Pro Offroad exhaust on my truck this weekend. It is alot louder then the stock exhaust. It definitely has a nice growl. Maybe a little ricey but it is a Toyota. I like though. The old people that live in my condo though....not so much.
