I need yall's thoughts on something. A fluid has been leaking around my drums and has got the drum completely wet on the back, and partly on the front. It has occurred on both sides of the axle. I've been checking the brake fluid in the reservoir and it is not showing lower than normal. I feel that if it was brake fluid, I would see a noticeable difference in the fluid level because it's A LOT that has been caked on the inside of the wheels and outside of the drums. I'll post some pictures tomorrow in the daylight. Any thoughts on my issue will be appreciated!

But it could be your axle seals.

 

Axle seals....would that be an urgent issue?

 

Check your diff fluid level, shine your phone take a pic. It should be close to the edge of the filler plug threads. If it's low then that's bad juju

I've never checked my diff fluid before..... Not sure how to do that

Aight go outside and take off the filler cap. (Hint: it's the bolt on the upper half of the housing, not the lower one.) shine a light in there and see where the fluid level is at, take a pic of it maybe and post it here. But you should be able to feel the fluid with your finger right below if not even with the filler hole.

Shhhhhh, mine leak too. But i ignore that issue as it hasn't gotten to the point of leaking into my drums yet.

You pull the drum/hub assembly and install new seals, you'll also have to drain the diff fluid and replace it.

 

Smell those 2nd gen probs boys? Those plastic beds must be too much of a load for the axle. #bustinseals

 

nothing is handed to you on a silver platter like it is in school. When you learn in school the information you need to solve problems is generally presented to you. Then you head out tp your first job and even that shit is work to find, then you have to rely on it and apply it...with real consequences that effect real things. Am I an engineer? No...but I honestly cant imagine the experience is much different than what I went through my first round of real work as an accountant.

has it fanned out onto your wheel? with streaks running out from the hub?
