On my 2007 Tacoma, I would like to connect my Ipod. I have heard of a connector that allows the use of the steering controls. Anyone have any inout on these? Links? and Pics?
    Thanks!

I have a USAspec but it is a universal 3.5mm adapter so it works with pretty much anything that has a headphone port. I don't have any experience with the iPod version. I'm sure it works just as well.

I installed the USA-SPEC PA15-TOY a few weeks ago (truck is 3 weeks old). It's great! I can skip songs and select a few play lists from my iPhone.

I decided to upgrade the whole head unit to a Kenwood with navigation, so if you're interested I can sell you my iPod adapter kit for $120. I'm going to be taking it out of the truck this weekend when I install the new stereo. Just let me know! I bought it from Crutchfield.

Does the USA-SPEC have the dip switches?

Yes. It has 4 DIP switches... but for Toyota they did not need to be changed. Since I usually select the songs from my iPhone and don't use the built in playlist selection (the first 6 "discs" are your first 5 playlists) I was considering changing the DIP switches to disable the playlist mode. Long story short, yes it does have switches. :)

I mostly use disc 7 (shuffle entire iPod) and disc 8 (control directly on iPod).

I have an ipod2car PXDP in my 07.

I have a Nano & my husband has a new Classic.

When you shut the truck off - the ipod will pause and go into charging mode. If it's already charged fully, the screen will shut off. Ipods never 'turn off' (per say).

When you turn the truck back on - the ipod will wake up & will be in 'pause' mode but if you turn the radio on then off quick, it'll start playing.

    Here's a link about a writeup:

Hey, Janster, can you adjust the volume out put with your unit? Also, The instructions say you have to update your Ipods software, by doing the update, do you loose the songs you have downloaded on the unit?
    Thanks. :)

Well..... the loudness of your music files really doesn't have anything to do with the ipod2car unit. You can turn dipstick #6 ON to get a little extra volume. The loudness of your music depends on the files themselves.

All my songs came from a variety of places and their sound levels were all over the place. So - for my entire music collection, I ran them through a program called MP3Gain (free). This program scans the music and tells you what sound levels they're currently at and you can set the Decibel output and it'll adjust every song the same.
    http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php

I have *Sound Check* in itunes & my ipod turned OFF.

I have the most updated software on my ipods - and when you update, it shouldn't erase any music. Atleast, I've never seen it delete anything from mine after an update.

    Here's a really neat forum for ipods/itunes/etc.
