If you have a double cab you know that in-cab storage can be difficult especially if you have backseat passengers, which I do. So for a long time I've been a fan of seat covers with some kind of pockets on them that allow me to pack stuff. I use the pockets for stuff like maps, headlamps, first aid kits, small tools etc. For the last couple years I've been using the Smittybuilt Catch-all seat covers. When I bought them I didn't have high hopes for them but I've been pleasantly surprised that they were as comfortable and durable as they are. They are pretty basic with a smaller upper pocket and a couple larger lower pockets.

I have found that I needed more places for things in the cab and the Catch-All covers were getting pretty worn. So I pick up some new covers that I've been planning to try for a long time. These are also from SmittyBuilt. These are the G.E.A.R. seat covers that use a mil-spec molle system on the back and come with a variety of pockets etc that can be moved to a bunch of different configuations on the molle webbing on the back of the seats. These are a MUCH more durable material and the stitching is much better and designed to be far better and holding up to abuse than just about any other seat cover.

even though they are not a "tight" fit they are staying in place nicely and not movind around

Durable material and strong quality stitching on all the Velcro straps etc.

I like the MOLLE on the back and really like that part of them, but...

The front side (the side you sit on) looks like crap. The seat back looks like it would bunch up, the buckle on the headrest looks like a headache waiting to happen and the sea bottoms look like an after thought.

Now, if they made a Wet Oakle (sp?) or similar that was tight fitting but had the MOLLE back, that would be something to buy.

Edit: I just read what I wrote. Not trying to talk bad about your setup as you truck in many respects is what mine wants to be when it grows up. SmittyBuilt just looks like they spent all of their time and R&D money on the MOLLE back and paid no attention to the part you sit on.

Nah. I just need to learn how to run a sewing machine. In theory it shouldn't be too hard to sew webbing onto a seat cover.

That's an awesome idea for storage, Adam. I'm definitely going to have to look for a pair of these when I start carrying more in the cab of my truck.

well for starters, if you know anything about SmittyBuilt you would know that most of what they make is for jeeps. These are no exception. They are designed to fit on Jeep seats so there is going to be fitment issues with anything other than that. These things are already expensive. You probably already know the cost of Wet Okole seat covers. They are not cheap either since it takes time to custom fit them to specific seats. Now add the cost of the molle and attachments and you've got seat covers that would cost more than having your seats recovered with leather. There would be very few people willing to pay that cost. So dream on.

Like I said the front look kinda loose but it really isn't and they don't move around at all. Most of the slack you are seeing is in the center area of the seats. My seats are not factory Toyota seats. They have a deeper seat bucket and more pronounced side bolsters than the lousy flat stock seats. Because of those bolsters it creates some slack in the center, but as I said they don't move around. They would probably appear to fit better on a flat seat like stock toyota ones.

I'm not trying to get people to buy these, I'm just sharing my mods and my impressions of them. If you don't like them, don't buy them. For me and what I need, they will be awesome.

I have looked at these before and always thought they would be good. I'll be interested to hear a long term review. My concern with them was whether or not they would obstruct the space for passengers when fully loaded.

For those that didn't want the full seat cover or already had others but wanted some storage similar Blue Ridge Overland Gear makes a MOLLE panel for a few toyota vehicles that look pretty nice.

I love all that storage, I have a somewhat similar model made by cabelas trail gear, they fit very similar I've had them about a year and it has never bunched up or bothered me. Function over looks IMO

Headed to Moab this week. Spending Thursday-Saturday down there with the fam and some people from our club. Looking forward to it, the fall is my favorite time to be in Moab.

Uh....not exactly. It's more about the weather. Temps in Moab are perfect this time of year and it's a bit less busy than it is in the spring when temps are similar.

Moab! Top of my list of places I want to wheel! Wish I would have wheeled the Rubicon when I lived out there.

I was being sarcastic/ironic since Moab has no large trees that change color (afaik). :pout:
