    Nobody told him to get Duratracs. From my understanding there are plenty of highway tires that perform much better and last longer than the stock sport Bridgestones. Seems like they might be easier to find as well considering the OP had problems?

    OP wanted new 684-IIs, dealer gave him a different model, he asked for info on them with the wrong model number, discovered they were 684-IIs and then his dealer took back the wrong model tires and replaced them with the 684-II per his request.

    This transaction has been finished already. Telling him to get different tires is pointless. He wanted 684-IIs and he bought them. There are better tires, and there are better trucks, yet OP bought a Tacoma and he bought the tires he wanted. 5 people coming in after the fact and trying to say the tires he purchased are not worth buying has no purpose being posted, especially after the initial issue with new tires has been corrected and he's now happily rolling down the road on his 684-IIs. He knows his needs a bit more than you guys, don't you think? So your assumption that there are better tires that fit his needs is your own belief, not his.

    Sooooo what you're saying is we can't offer our opinions that he should have gotten a different tire? Who said the tire he purchased wasn't worth buying? From what I read, people simply offered up the information that there are other, possibly better tire choices out there, yet you are making it seem that we are making an attack on the OP? :confused:

    I believe no one told him he bought the wrong tire.

    This is a forum where people are free to post their opinions and thoughts on just about anything, including tires!

    A lot of people do not care for OEM tires, they're usually more expensive just for the fact that they're OEM and usually don't come close in performance, quality, etc as "Aftermarket" tires in the same price range.

    WHY DID I WANT STOCK TIRES?

    The question you should have asked is why go to the $$$ dealer for any tires.

    1. I didn't give a shit about price. I can afford whatever tires I want.
    2. I wanted TOYOTA to be responsible for any TPMS fukkups.
    3. The truck was already in for service & I didn't want to take off work twice to go somewhere else.
    4. I've been dealing with this same shop for all my Toyotas, for 14 years now.
    5. I drive past it twice a day & so do a couple of my guys so it's really convenient to get there & get a ride to work.

    Anyhow I was quite satisfied with the stock tires & half the folks here who do mount different tires seem to have some alignment & balance issues I didn't need.

    Also I have no need for the truck to look "custom". It's an appliance like a refrigerator. I have other vehicles for customizing fun.

    They're not the greatest tires, but far better than the 840's, and they're a good compromise between good traction & low rolling friction.

    Finally I have the factory original spare, untouched. I wanted it to match.
